David (not) doing DIY!

Right the plan for today was to go to Argos and buy a new drill and step ladder for me, my old drill and step ladder not being fit for the purpose. Instead David brought over his old drill. This was to fix two mirrors to the wall, one in the livingroom and one in the hall. Both have been waiting quite some time to be fixed. I bought the fixtures needed, and we came home. David then proceeded to string one excuse after another for us not to do it. Now during all this time I never asked him to do it, I hasten to add. I was resolved to the fact that, new drill or no new drill it would be tomorrow (well today) before I could get it done. I know how (un)handy David is. Margret an I can do it later today. I told him this, but two women doing DIY seemed to effect his manhood. I know he will not do it, but doesn't want two women doing it (it is a two handed job). All in all he was only being obstructive the whole time. Ok, he doesn't want to do it himself, fine, but don't obstruct me in getting it done!

Not helped by the fact I wanted him to leave to put a washing on because I had 'woman's problems' and had flooded, so had some things I wanted to wash before they stained. It was a tense time.

I can do the lotus position again! I've been doing exersices every morning to try and get some fitness and muscle tone back as well as flexiblity, and today I feel as if it has paid off. I'm also not feeling faint in the mornings. I hope this continues when 'that time of the month' is here.

Back to Normal

People who have been around this journal for a while will probably know that I often have a problem around festive season. This year was a big one, but I have got back to normal now. For those of you who I promised cards for but I failed to deliver, a poll. I have your addresses but wonder what sort of card you would like now that it is Feburary. My plan is to keep the Christmas cards until next Christmas and send them then. Those of you who expect presents, they are bought and will be sent next week, probably Tuesday as I have a Doctors appointment and my friend Anne-Marie visiting on Monday, so will be busy. In fact everyone, Doctor, my medication and dentist are all demanding my time next week.

On to poll.....

Poll #1706890 I'm Late, I'm Late for a very important date!

I would like a....

Friendship card
1(11.1%)
Easter card
0(0.0%)
Funny card, any occassion
0(0.0%)
Suprise card, could turn up at any time
8(88.9%)

Thinking of going into Glasgow tomorrow. David has gone high again, but, thankfully, isn't driving. I can pretty easily get into Glasgow and go to the Italian Center. Maybe for lunch.

Ordered a Ski Jacket which, hopefully, will arrive today. Brown, and David has offered to pay for it. Got it in the sales.

Ready Willing and Waiting!

Pretty much all packed to go to London. Just the toiletaries to go, after I have my shower. Feeling really excited about it as well.

Birthday greetings will be when I come back for my adorable Birthday 'twins', all three of you....Quadluplets?

Just got to sort out travel arragements around London, making sure I can get around from the hotel. Will do that next. Probably use the underground as that is what I'm used to in London.

I'll be leaving Dumbarton at 8pm tonight to go to Buchannan Street Bus Station, traveling overnight to get to London, so hopfully I can sleep on the coach.

Need to do a couple of things before I go, so need to get them arranged. Hopfully I will see everyone on my flist who are going there. Have a great time everyone!

Now What Should I Do?

Started the medication today, it is only a week's course. I have to drink a lot of water and take them with food, three times a day. I'm still on the iron tables as well, so taking a lot of medication, therefore I've been waiting to get the next item, medically, on my list sorted.

Collapse )

I've come across a few people, even outside my flist, who are going to the Kane concert in London. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas of how we can recognise each other to meet up. I did think of badges, but have no way of making them, so, taking into account that I have zero artistic skills, and therefore no software to use, any other ideas?

Great day yesterday. David bought me an early Birthday present of a great pair of shoes. Lovely and soft and comfortable, while I bought myself some great slippers, which really keep me warm and have the memory foam, so mould to my feet for added support (high arches). The Beef Broth Soup also turned out really well.

I'm also considering being boring and tea-total at the Kane concert, as I'm pretty sure the drink would cost and arm and a leg, and I would rather spend what money I take with me on Kane merchandise. Is that just too boring.

I've also ordered a Kane t-shirt to go to the concert with. It says Kane with a set of wings attached, in black as I will be wearing black jeans, but will keep it covered before the concert with a jumper. It is November, I suspect it will be cold outside.

Really should run off now and leave some feedback for people. Anyone got any advice for me?

Similar shoes. Mine are two-tone brown and black

Happy Halloween!

I hope everybody is having a good day. I'm happy enough, but not going to be the best Halloween for a few reasons.

A) No drinks because I still have the suspected ulcer.

B) Filling fell out yesterday, so no sweets or chocolates either :-( Still it was over 20 years old so I can't complain.

C) Was up until 6 am playing bingo at a land comm. I did get bingo, but suffering for it today.

To cheer myself up I'm going to make a pot roast. The brisket was quite expensive (I remember when it used to be quite a cheap peice of meat). Will make it just like my mum did, I loved it as a child.

Oh well, at least it isn't raining and not to cold for this time of the year either. I also have marshmallow showballs for any trick or treaters who come to the door.

Also only 25 days until the Christian Kane concert \0/.

Jake is Hardison's cousin. At least that is what Aldis says, so slightly canon. Love you Aldis!

*hugs to all*

Random Musing

Ronnie and I watched 'Monster Movie' today. Ronnie loved it, and kept to the Halloween theme. Then we had my Chinese Vegetable Soup (really easy, the only thing that takes a bit of time is boiling the water, honest). Anyone wants the recipe just ask, followed by a Vegatarian Pizza. Really cheap but filling meal. Ronnie is the veggie by the way, but give me an excuse to make up recipies.

........

Was thinking about this during the week, but a poll by tx_cronopio made me think of it.

1) I have a blueberry but still use a wristwatch.

2) I have reasonable google fu skills, but like to use the Yellow Pages.

3) Have the blueberry but also have a landline.

4) Have various programmes I can keep track of things to do on certain days and get alerts for them, but still use a paper diary and calender.

5) Have a turntable, cassette and CD player. I like to listen to my old music in the original format.

So am I officially old-fashioned? My excuse is I will be 51 next month. Does that work?

............

Feeling really orginised. Bought the Christmas Cards, so if you asked for one, I'll probably send next month to make sure you get them. Still not to late to request a Christmas Card, but I probably will not be able to get the 'Greetings from Dumbarton' one now.

............

Going to get myself a Christmas Present. Probably 'The Long Road to Eden' by The Eagles and Season's 1-3 of 'The Big Bang Theory'. Need to cut back, London can be expensive.

............

Still waiting to get the results to find out if I have an ulcer. If I do it should be easily treated, and I can have a drink while I'm away and at the Kane concert, if not, I can't. *fingers crossed it is easily fixed*
