Fandoms in common
Just wondering with my new friends what fandoms we have in common. By fandoms I mean that I am interested in the programmes, not that I talk a lot about them, but I might, if enough interest in them. Ok, here goes

Poll #1756914 Fandom(s)

What fandom(s) do we have in common

Dr Who
Being Human
The Big Bang Theory
Lord of the Rings (books)
Good Omens (book)
Sherlock (new)

Sorry, I didn't win the Eurolottery, then neither did anyone else. Seems it is up to about 130,000,000 next time. Exactly how difficult to win is it!

Duly noted!

I'm not a new friend, but answered anyways. I checked all but the last three. I'm excited to watch the new Torchwood on Starz here in the States.

Just started watching a new show,Teen Wolf, on MTV. Not bad at all. They took the old movie, Teen Wolf and updated for a series. Sort of like how Joss took his movie, Buffy, The Vampire Slayer and made it so much better for TV.

I'm also watching a show called Failing Skies that is by Steven Spielberg. It' s on TNT like Leverage.

Oh new interests, must look into!

I like Teen Wolf and Falling Skies as well. Also looking forward to the new Torchwood.

Oh, and True Blood just started up yesterday.

I used to love Torchwood, but that was before Children of Earth. So yeah.

I've been thinking of looking into Sherlock. Do you recommend?

Oh, and not a new friend obviously, but I can't resist a ticky box. :/

I love people ticking my boxes ;-)

I recommend Sherlock, a modern twist on an old classic, and very well written by two respected British writers.

Based on how many of these we have in common, I think I'm gonna have to go read Good Omens! (And maybe, finally watch Supernatural. I feel like I've already seen most of it just from hanging around fandom, lol.)
woman_of_ From: woman_of_ Date: June 29th, 2011 02:56 am (UTC) (Link)
Good Omens is really funny, I'm sure you will enjoy it!
shannon730 From: shannon730 Date: June 28th, 2011 10:26 pm (UTC) (Link)
I've only actually seen one season of SPN so technically I haven't really decided for sure yet.
woman_of_ From: woman_of_ Date: June 29th, 2011 02:57 am (UTC) (Link)
I hope you continue to watch, but have to admit the earlier seasons are what hooked me.
shannon730 From: shannon730 Date: June 29th, 2011 03:01 am (UTC) (Link)
I'm being told I have to give it time because my biggest problem is lighting. My vision is really, really bad and I have a hard time making out anything as dark as the first season was. But I've been told that gets better so I"ll give it at least one more season...because the story itself I could definitely get into.
woman_of_ From: woman_of_ Date: June 29th, 2011 10:14 pm (UTC) (Link)
Well, I would say they changed the lighting in Season Two, but I consider it still quite dark. Not sure if it is going to suit you if the lighting is a problem. It does get lighter later, but I would consider you might still have a problem
shannon730 From: shannon730 Date: June 30th, 2011 12:56 am (UTC) (Link)
I'm hoping I can manage it. But yeah my vision is bad and there is apparently nerve damage in my neck that makes it worse so it's all questionable. Hopefully though I can manage if it gets a little lighter. As I said, the story itself is something I can get into.

BtVS; AtS; Dr. Who (more old show & S5/6 of the new); Being Human (only seen S1 there) & up to the end of S3 of SPN. LOVE Good Omens; more than ANYTHING either Pratchett or Gaiman has done individually & I'd argue that the BBC R4 dramatisation, with Ian Holm & Robert Stephen is actually far superior to the book (it was never intended as three books; the publishers just weren't prepared to put them out as one book) & certainly than the movies, which are as different from the books, as NuWho is from the Who that I still much prefer.

Just my twopenneth :-)

Long Live Wee!Amelia and her Raggedy Men,
but still under Willow & Tara's spell,

Of course I'd add Babylon 5; would also love to write more CSI (Vegas); ER; Cagney & Lacey, not to mention Bones, but NEVER Booth/Brennan will EVER flow from my pen, that much I can promise you.
woman_of_ From: woman_of_ Date: June 29th, 2011 02:59 am (UTC) (Link)
Never watched Booth, I guess I wouldn't now. I prefer the book of Good Omens, as that is what I read first. If I read a book first then that is always my favourite.

I'm not a new friend but I answered anyway haha. Can't resist a poll.

Welome, wanted old and new friends to answer so that is good.
From: hab318princess Date: June 29th, 2011 06:01 am (UTC) (Link)
Ticked Lord of the Rings books... more a like than a fandom... but if there is any good Eowyn fic out there, I'd read it :D
woman_of_ From: woman_of_ Date: June 29th, 2011 10:15 pm (UTC) (Link)
A lot of them are more a like than really fandom interest for me as well, but if anyone on my flist posted a fandom like post then I would read it.
goldenusagi From: goldenusagi Date: June 29th, 2011 06:28 am (UTC) (Link)
Everything except Leverage and The Big Bang Theory, really.
woman_of_ From: woman_of_ Date: June 29th, 2011 10:16 pm (UTC) (Link)
That is good, quite a few interests in common!
theron09 From: theron09 Date: June 29th, 2011 09:28 am (UTC) (Link)
Supernatural and Leverage are the main ones on there for me but I'm also reading the LOTR books at the moment and really enjoying them.

(Also, Fast Car is such a great song!)
woman_of_ From: woman_of_ Date: June 29th, 2011 10:18 pm (UTC) (Link)
Good to know! LotR books are so much better than the films. At least I think so.

It is, listening to the CD right now, at Calling all country Women!
elebridith From: elebridith Date: June 29th, 2011 10:23 am (UTC) (Link)
I still have to read Good Omens, but I will like it, I think, because I like Neil Gaiman.

Didn't tick SPN because I still ahven't gotten around to Season 2, and frankly I want to catch up on other shows first...
woman_of_ From: woman_of_ Date: June 29th, 2011 10:19 pm (UTC) (Link)
I'm sure you will enjoy it, but be careful if you read it in company. You might find yourself laughing out loud at the writting. It is meant to be funny, not that it is bad.
