I don't think I'm supposed to admit that I'm such a sucker for pining. Well. I am. So there. Jim & Pam were more pine-y than the woods outside my front window. I'm glad that the show didn't go the easy route of getting them together immediately, though I'm sure they will be by the end of the season. More importantly, I like that it spurred both of them to make improvements in their lives (her art school, his promotion), even if it separates them for now. But ooh, they look so miserable, and I love it!
Other things I loved:
-- Bless him, Michael's trying, even if he totally fucks it up ("Queer As Fuck"!) The kiss was both horrifying and hilarious.
-- Ed Helms! We have him, Carell, and my beloved Nancy Walls. Dare I dream of a Colbert cameo? Nah, too obvious. Dammit. I like that he's playing another office archetype (the frat boy who isn't half as cool as he thinks he is) without mirroring anyone we've seen before. And I *loved* the Jell-O calculator shout-out to the UK version.
-- I'm intrigued by the Stamford characters. Don't necessarily want to see tons more of them, but I'm curious.
-- Chicken or fish? Hee! Poor Roy. The awkwardness was delicious. Am very glad that they didn't just write him off the show because of the broken engagement, even though I doubt we'll see much of him. Also: yay, Phyllis!
-- Stanley's reaction to the engagement and, well, everything? Perfect. As was Angela's, at least for how in-character it was.
-- The tiny little moments are always the best part of the show, like Ryan's double-take when Pam grinned at him. (Poor Pam. She needs her Jim back.)
-- Maybe Oscar gave in too easily, but I can see his point. He just wants to live his life without dealing with all the crap. At least he got a sweet vacation out of it. ;)
-- "When two people find each other, what should stand in their way?" *happy sigh*
One more time: SQUEE!
And in closing: that Audrey Hepburn GAP ad is just wrong on so many, many levels. GAH.
ETA: Oooh, two more BSG promo pics. Who's hotter -- the girls or the boys? Or, the real question: how does Mary manage to look hotter than all of them put together? (Thanks to sarmoti for the link!)
