Heels of Algae

1. I have plantar fasciitis! I love it! Best medical name ever. Makes me think of fungus and Mussolini. Plus, it's most common with athletes, which makes me feel all super-fit and energetic. A few caveats, though. So far, I only have an LJ Friendslist Diagnosis, but I do have an appt on Thursday morning with my primary care; hopefully he can diagnose without an additional visit to a podiatrist (and an additional co-pay), but I'm doubtful. Also, despite my enthusiasm, plantar fasciitis is not fun. It HURTS. Much love to those of you who linked to stretching exercises; I tried a few last night, and they seem to be working. Very little pain today!

2. I'd been doing so well with my plan to save money by cooking for myself instead of getting takeout so often, but tonight I caved and got Chinese from the place around the corner. Was quite thrilled to see that the storefront next door has a sign that suggests it might become a used bookstore. Excellent. Very few of those in my neck of the woods.

3. The temperatures are slowly getting a bit lower, which means that autumn's on its way. This is excellent news. Despite my living in the south for nearly my entire life, I'm not a fan of hot weather. Autumn's my favorite season, with the changing leaves and much better clothes.

4. I voted today in a county election for our school-related sales tax. I got the impression that only perhaps a dozen other people voted at that precinct today. Not very surprising, given that it was the only thing on the ballot, but still.

5. It's amazing how fast you can go from feeling pretty darn great to having a very low self-esteem day. Fortunately, I managed to resist doing a "Poor me, my life is so hard!" post to LJ. ;) I was rather touch-and-go for a while there, but I'm feeling much better now. Whew.
