Stealing from the community notice board.

Am now down in Seattle at dionusia's (hello!), and am very sleepy. But I had to post real quick about something that made me and elly427 giggle like fiends. (Er, and the post's timestamp is in my original EST. I'm not up that late!)

So. For almost an hour, we sat and chatted at the Starbucks across from Vancouver Public Library. You'd probably recognize it from, well, half the stuff ever filmed in town. We got up to leave and stopped by the ladies'. As I left, Elly nudged me and pointed to the community bulletin board. And yes, we stole this flyer. Collapse )

Heigl'd out.

Ooh, time for some Grey's Anatomy drama! (I don't actually watch the show, but this is rather juicy.)

Katherine Heigl withdraws her name from Emmys consideration, blaming the show's writers.

Quote: "I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention. In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials."

I can't judge the merit of the writing, nor can I decide whether this is cool or rather snotty. Either way, I love a good mini-scandal!

The Seattle Doggy Bounce

dionusia and bitterlatinist keep apologizing to me for the cold. This weather is GREAT!!! I come from Atlanta. Fifty-five degrees on June 11th? Bring it on, baby! And D. bought me a copy of today's paper, which cries that Collapse )

We've had a quiet day so far, which suits me well. D and I walked to a very wacky store with yarn on sale for 40% off -- I got two skeins of Noro Silver Thaw. Then we had lunch at a locally-semi-famous Chinese restaurant and our second latte of the day; hey, I gotta drink up all the Seattle stereotypes, right? Mostly, though, we've hung out at her house, watching two hours of Trading Spouses and attempting to teach Conrad how to do the Doggy Bounce. Excellent.

A question for y'all: My laptop's sound card has not worked for nearly 8 months, and I assumed it was a hardware issue. The other day I downloaded and installed Audacity to join some .mp3s, and suddenly my laptop had sound again! Since then, I have to open Audacity in order to get it to work. Any ideas why the heck that's the solution? :)
