WTF SO SRSSLLY
`my flight from chicago to san francisco was half an hour late. i had never been to the sanfran airport. i ran like A MILE and had to go through security again and was almost positive i missed my flight.. but it was DELAYED an hour. okay. fine. i made my flight. well i got on the plane and then they said the seattle airport won't let us leave for at least an hour. OKAY FINE WHATEVER I HAVE READING TO DO.
so we land in seattle and then i talk to tyler and he's like hey the traffics really bad you're going to have to wait a little while. OKAY GREAT WHATEVER NO BIG DEAL.
and then i get my bags and hey guess what one of them isn't there and i had to wait in this long line and talk to this lady and now i get to hope and pray that it gets delivered tommorrow.
but all that sucks, you know, a whole lot, but here's the kicker. tyler picks me up at 12:50 AM. the less-than a mile it takes to drive out of the airport takes us TWO HOURS. it takes us 45 minutes to drive from the highway to the next highway. and then 2.25 hours to drive on the highway home! THAT MEANS IT TOOK US 5 HOURS TO DRIVE SOMETHING THAT WOULD NORMALLY TAKE 1!
I HATE EVERYTHING.
plus, i have class in 3.5 hours. OH GREAT. GOODNIGHT

BAGHDAD BURNING

The blog and book, Baghdad Burning published by Riverbend, an Iraqi woman, is a particularly profound introduction to the Iraq war for those who do not know much about the occupation of Iraq, the human effects of it, and Iraqi, Middle Eastern, Arab, and Muslim culture. I myself,  a person without the skills to create a  discourse on the Iraq war and occupation really garnered a lot from this book. While I do attest to having a certain perhaps elementary knowledge about all of the topics I listed before, plus a particular interest in the social sciences and the ability to critically analyze issues such as these, it goes without saying that I, as a United States resident of an upper-class, Christian, White, and female background, did not fully understand this occupation and what it means on a larger scale, but especially on a smaller scale.  I find this passage to be particularly profound, and worth reading if you do not wish to further analyze the issues at hand:

I'm going to miss it here in some ways.
. last night i went to a reggae/funk club a few blocks away from my hostel. it was acutally really cool. The music was good, it wasn't like bob marley shit, it was more like... liquid liquid.
i went to a protest today. it was so cool because it was about keeping the country safe, safe from murders and rapists and kidnappers- about better security, better education, better healthcare...
there were thousands upon thousands of people there all with candles. it wasn't a political protest, it was a social protest.
everyone broke out into the national anthem. it was at the plaza de mayo, the place where all the major protests happen.
do i want to go home or don't i? i think if i had friends here that wanted to travel i wouldn't- but I don't. I want to come back here sometime in 20 years or so.

I met this guy that has the best job ever- he works for british airways part-time as a phone person. he gets FULL HEALTHCARE (doesn't pay a dime!), is in a union, gets 8 weeks paid vacation and 30 days unpaid vacation, and of course ridiculous ticket discounts. to get here he had to pay $200- compared to the $1200  it normally is.
i like hearing about people awesome jobs and all the cool places they've been + experienced. mmmhmm.
but it's time to go home, it's time to see all my friends again after months and months...
i repeat everything 1000 times. it's worth it though.

i'm hungry. i'm going to make rice.

I hear I can't have any carry-ons. WTF. I'm going to be on a plane for 14 hours and I can't read a book??!?!?!??!?!! Is this really true???!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! And I wonder if they have english books/magazines at the airport.

I forgot to mention this in one of my other 6000 updates in the past 48 hours, but,
you know how in the story "6 to 8 black men" by david sedaris he goes into detail about the christmas customs of the netherlands?
well, in argentina, the tooth fairy is not a fairy but a rat
