pretty mountains

Lots of pretty mountains in Brokeback Mountain. :)  I'm not going to talk about the movie in too much detail cause I don't want to spoil it for others.

The movie was playing in 3 out of the 4 theatres and the shows were selling out.

The person sitting behind me started crying near the end.  While walking out the theatre, saw quite a few women wiping away tears.

The movie stuck very close to the story, in fact, the movie actually expanded on certain things.  Some of the dialogue was lifted straight out of the story.

Jake is hot.  Jake with a moustache, not so much.  Heath made me cry.

The movie is the classic story of impossible love between 2 soulmates.  Except this time, the 2 souls are male.

ETA: Link to my photobucket for concert pictures (p/w: firefly). lady_caitie, I've uploaded pictures from the Rob Thomas concert.

If you really want to post about the movie, you could always do it behind a cut tag....of course then I'd have to exercise enormous will power to not spoil myself :D

Jake is definitely hot, from the trailer I saw last night.

So did you like the movie? You didn't really say, definitively.

I thought about using a cut tag but then why bait the masses? ;) Besides, I'm not very good at expressing why I like something, other than the usual, "it's great". I've found some pretty good reviews around LJ so maybe I'll just provide a link and go, "read that cause that's what I want to say!"

Yes, I loved the movie. I want to see it again. Soon. I'm still thinking about it, a day later. It's the romantic in me *sigh*

I'm so fastidious about not wanting to be spoiled that I don't usually read movie reviews until *after* I've seen the film, but since the wait for this one's gonna be a looooong haul I read a few this morning. It seems to me that Brokeback Mountain, Sense & Sensibility, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon form an Ang Lee trilogy of films about desire vs. societal contstraints. I loved those other two movies so I'm sure I'm going to love this one. I'm such a sap that the *preview* I saw of it this weekend almost had me in tears. So yeah, hopeless romantics of the world unite :D

Man, you guys are slow :D

I wonder how long I can keep this mountain thing going? or has it gone on long enough?

Ooooo, good call. See? I would've never figured that out.

So what did you think about the movie? I thought it was excellent and Jake meow. So i'll ask you the annoying question. What part of it stuck in your mind the most?

Thanks for the Rob Thomas pictures, I'm gonna look at them now.

What part of it stuck in your mind the most?

I'll to be as general as possible (don't want to spoil things). Heath's scene after Ennis & Jack part when they come down from Brokeback. Jack & Ennis' reunion and Alma. The 30-sec sex scene. The last Ennis & Jack scene, after Ennis tells Jack about having to wait til November. Jack finally telling off his father-in-law (yay!)

#1 -- the scene, which is shown in the trailers, both of them standing in front of the fire, with Ennis holding Jack from behind and Jack falling asleep on his feet. The moment just encapsulates what could've been... *sniff*

What stuck in your mind the most?

Most definitely the last scene that the two share together. I found it very emotionally charged. I could go on further but I don't want to spoil things for anyone who reads this.

*runs through screaming and with partially covered eyes*

Would it be easier to buy a plane ticket & navigate my way through Toronto to see this movie now? Or wait 'til Friday when it comes out here?

Yeah. I was thinking the flying too...

Flying is good.

And hey, uncover those eyes. We've been pretty good with the spoilers. :D

*scrolls up and looks through comments to make sure*

Yes, they most certainly are.

That shot is my fave. For a while, I thought that shot wasn't going to be in the movie but *phew* it was there.

Oh, and guess what is happening in this house at this very moment. Both mother and brother are watching 24 (mom's on S2; bro's working on S1) I'm so proud.

You need to get some Kiefer/Jack icons.
