where's the snow?

Spurred on by the fear of being trapped in an airport for hours due to this huge snowstorm that's suppose to hit Toronto Thursday night/Friday, I made the last-minute decision to fly out of Cleveland Thursday night. Packed my bag and checked out of the hotel in 20 minutes. Was at the airport 1 hour before departure. Paid the $100 USD fee for changing my flight. And then proceeded to sit in the Cleveland airport while our flight was delayed for 3 hours. Finally get on the plane and then sat at the gate for 45 minutes. Actual flying time to Toronto -- 37 minutes. Then we proceeded to wait another 50 minutes before we can disembark. Huge line for a taxi. I finally arrive home at 2am. 9 hours in total.

And I wake up this morning to bright sunshine and... no snowstorm!! Checked my original flight -- arrived in Toronto EARLY!!!! *bangs head on desk*

Onto more pleasent things...

Thanks to my new hero, the lovely thysanotus, I'm now listening to Hand in Hand from UAL. I seriously heart this song. I always thought the beginning with Ike saying, "[this song] is about an old girlfriend who cheated on me... oh it's ok, I got her back" meant that Ike took said girlfriend back and me thinking why Ike would want to get back with a cheating girlfriend. But now it's been explained that the "I got her back" was most likely meant as revenge. Very interesting.

Hey, nia_starr, did you hear about the latest Arrested Development casting news? This is going to be awesome. And there's rumours of either ABC or Showtime picking up AD *keeps fingers crossed* And Serenity DVD out on the 20th!!

canno, I'm hoping hoping hoping that I will be watching Brokeback Mountain tomorrow night. If I do, I will make sure to talk about it constantly til you've seen it as well. ;) Looks like the movie has opened in TO, Vancouver & Montreal but in limited theatres (only 1 theatre in all of TO).

Off to unpack now.

I guess we got all your snow...woke up this morning to find a good foot and a half of the white stuff. And I live on a hill, so my walkway had drifted almost to waist level. Shovelling out was fun, yeah.

Changing your flight was probably like carrying an umbrella...you know how it never seems to rain when you've got one with you?

And wah, no Brokeback Mountain for Kingston yet :(

So that's where the snow went. Poor Ariadnie. It appears Toronto got the snow Thursday afternoon/night which made Thursday, when I flew, the worst time. Ah well, hindsight is 20/20. Besides, that $100 USD change fee should be reimbursable by the company.

I wonder why they're having such a slow roll-out for BBM. But the Heath/Jake goodness will be seen!

Haha! I *just* made a comment on Ariadnie's LJ about Jake & Heath... Love the new avi btw!

I'm glad you're home safe and sound.

It's so cold, I wish I had a fireplace. I must console myself with warm thoughts.
Dec. 17th, 2005 12:17 am (UTC)
Warm Kalan thoughts? But then, aren't all Kalan thoughts heat-inducing?

Enjoy Brokeback, it's a great movie. I definitely want to get it when it comes out on dvd. Glad you made it home from Cleveland safely.

As for me I've been consumed with too much studying. My brain is fried beyond repair heh. These all nighters are killing me. Anyways enough with my complaining.

Ah, the life of a student. Hang in there! You're almost done.

I definitely want to get it when it comes out on dvd.

Well, that's a given :) Even if I end up not liking the movie (which is doubtful), I'll get it just for the, um... scenery. Cause I'm shallow like that.
Dec. 17th, 2005 09:58 pm (UTC)
Scenery? Is that like that music thing we were talking about?
Dec. 19th, 2005 01:50 am (UTC)
Yes, scenery. You know, BM has lots of shots of beautiful mountains :)

Bob Loblaw!

And crazy Isaac ...

Hey, did I tell you that I finally got to see FRANKLIN???????? Man, I laughed and laughed.
Dec. 17th, 2005 02:04 am (UTC)

Oh and supposedly this is a copy of the entire Patchogue concert but megaupload.won't.work.for.me

*grits teeth, keeps on trying*
Dec. 17th, 2005 04:05 am (UTC)
Franklin is the man.

The show is genuis.

I got the megaupload file and I'm listening to it... it's not the greatest bootleg. Not a lot of screaming but it's actually hard to hear the singing. I've turned up the volume which results in this constant hissing sound. If you want, I can upload individual songs so you can have a listen.
Dec. 17th, 2005 04:18 am (UTC)
I watched it out of sequence just to get to Franklin. It was still hilarious. Franklin is just so ... freaky.

It's not that great a bootleg? Damn, someone told me it was worth dl'ing. What's the setlist? Anything rare or megacool on it?

I've uploaded Can't Stop on YSI for your listening pleasure. Maybe it'll sound better on your computer?

Did you know that 'Can't Stop' is one of the ones that I adore on the (not really new, but new to me) second album? Er, apart from the weird 'tick tock' part, which they THANKFULLY SEEM TO HAVE DROPPED live, with very good reason.

Wow, the song dl'd in the time that it took for me to write that. I'm not used to this great speed.

Yeah, the sound is kind of muddy ... but to have the entire concert is pretty nifty and a great way to remember the other concerts.

Hey, did you get my e-mail? I'm curious, because I think there might be something wrong with my account.
Dec. 18th, 2005 04:50 pm (UTC)
Have you successfully dl'd the megaupload file yet?

And I received your e-mail. Looks like I'm going be busy over the next couple of days downloading stuff.

I have no more room on my computer!! Will I have to delete Kalan stuff to make space for Hanson stuff? *gasp*
Dec. 19th, 2005 07:22 am (UTC)
Hanson slowly begin their world domination with Amy's computer ...

I haven't dl'd the file yet, as megaupload won't load properly. *sighs*
Dec. 17th, 2005 06:25 am (UTC)
Er, I totally forgot to say thanks for that song :(

So, thanks for that!

I will love hate you forever if you talk about BBM infront of me! It's not coming here until the 23rd. *cries*

But as luck has it I found a friend to come with me! Just one friend. I'm not even cool enough to have 2 of them.

I'll be at home waiting for your email. I will be out all week. Do not try and contact me.
Dec. 18th, 2005 04:57 pm (UTC)
*sings gleefully* I'm seeing the movie this afternoon!!

Just one friend. I'm not even cool enough to have 2 of them.

Me, too. But yay! on your one friend. If you can only have one friend, it better be one that would go see BBM with you.

Expect something in your mailbox hopefully this week.

Jason & Justine
*Sigh* There go our hopes of sibling love interests... But hey, it would be well worth the loss if the show does end up getting picked up by another network, right?

Oh and *whispers* I picked up my copy of Serenity today during my lunch break--going in hubby's box o' presents!
