footloose

I finally watched the new version of Footloose. I enjoyed all the little callbacks to the original like the dancing feet in the opening shot. And Willard! Willard was my favourite back then and he remained my favourite in this version. I understand including hip-hop/break dancing in the current version but scoring Ren's "angry dance" to a hip-hop song was just not cool and I felt didn't work. But the thing that annoyed me the most? Julianne Hough's voice. She should stick to dancing cause her voice grates on my nerves.

Today is Word on the Street so I'm going to check it out, do some grocery shopping and that's my super busy plan for today. Have a great Sunday, f-list!

I loved Willard in the new one and as sad as it is to say, my fave part of the remake was Patrick Flueger - yes, he hit a girl - not cool! But dang ....

I looked up pictures of Patrick and wow, I wouldn't have recognized him as Chuck. Willard is awesome. The sequence of him learning to dance, in both versions, is the best.

I just came back from Word on the Street with a bunch of books. I really love this festival.

I didn't buy any books (a) I have too many and (b) I was looking for Penguin Classics newest series but was surprised Penguin had very little product. I did buy a magnet from a local (I'm assuming) cartoonist so that was my contribution to the local arts ;)

Did you get caught in the rain? It started just as I was getting home.

I was surprised Penguin didn't have much there this year. I usually splurge at the Harelquin table and Harpercollins.

I missed the rain completely. I usually get there just before it opens to avoid the crowds. It makes it easier to browse the tables.

The Harlequin table had really good deals. It was like $2 per book, wasn't it? Too bad I'm not a romance fan (the one exception is Julie Garwood but only her historical romance stuff, not her modern stuff). Ahhh, you were smart. I got there about 11:30 and stayed for about 90 mins.
