Death of another celebrity

Okay, call me cold-hearted, but the death of a celebrity? Really not high on my radar.

Yes, it is sad that Brittany Murphy died. It is sad when anyone dies, especially when they are so young (she was only 32). But am I really surprised at the news of her death? No, not at all. She was painfully thin, like eating disorder/drugs thin, and tended to have dark bags under her eyes and act really strung out, at least in recent interviews. Add that to her mom now saying "she had diabetes" (not mentioned anywhere else, the interviews I read/saw with her were her defending her thin form by stating that she loved sweets and ate all the time!), and her husband having a fit over the autopsy, which he very vehemently is opposing? Yeah, that doesn't seem fishy at all.

That said, I don't know the girl. She's young, and was in two of my all time favorite movies (Clueless and Sin City). Yes, it is a tragedy. As I said above, it is a tragedy when someone dies. But it is not like any of us know her personally (to my knowledge anyhow) and honestly, her death has no effect on my life. Does that make me a bitch? Maybe so, but at least I am being honest.

I cannot even tell you how many Facebook status updates I saw today that said thing like "OMG! I loved Brittany Murphy, I am crying!" and such. Really? You are crying over someone you don't know? It is one thing to say something like "Oh how sad, she was talented and I appreciated her work", but to be in tears like a family member died? The last time I reacted that way to a celebrity death was when Kurt Cobain died, and I was 13, so I think that is slightly more understandable.

Okay, I am done being cynical for the evening.

TEACHERS AND FRIENDS! I NEED ADVICE!!!

To all of my friends: I am trying to find work as a teaching aide of some sort. I will work part or full time, and am willing to work on a volunteer basis. I want the experience before I spend the money on my Master's. I would be available starting in January. Please, please point me in the right direction! Thank you!!!

Any grade - elementary, middle, high, or preschool.

(no subject)

WHY did they remake The Stepfather??? Terry O'Quinn was so creepy in the original. This time the Stepfather is played by Dylan Walsh (Nip/Tuck) - at least he is nice to look at :) But really - get some new ideas folks!

Future

While in Florida for about 36 hours, I came to a decision regarding my future. I am taking the GREs and applying for my Masters in Education. I have to start looking at schools to see who has the best program. I am willing (hell, more than willing) to move anywhere! I am scared but psyched at the same time.

Other updates - Have I mentioned lately how happy Tim makes me?

destroying my childhood (and yours)

I hate you Hollywood:

Isn't it bad enough that they are remaking just about every horror movie (including Last House of the Left, Hellraiser - my all-time favorite, and Nightmare on Elm Street - not to mention the many other remakes... The Haunting Anyone????).... why ruin The Neverending Story?

I just wish I had photos of my Halloween costume from 1998 (anyone have old Haven photos from that year's Halloween bash? I went as the Childlike Empress, and I would love to see how innocent I looked back then)

nip/tuck is good again

The Build-a-Bear death scene aside, Season 5 of Nip?Tuck has been a disappointment. But the one I just watched was...wow. Dina Meyer cut off her boob with an electric meat carver in the waiting room! Dude!
