It's crazy but I'm actually missing the cold Canadian winter! I've always subscribed to the notion that even the hardest times are easier to weather in a sunny climate, but here I am reminiscing about snowmen and frostbite.

I am watching a movie set in Quebec and this boy came indoors and you could see the snowflakes melting on his hair, which has turned to icicles. I can almost smell the fresh cold air! I used to love leaving my clothes outside for a night so that they get crisp and smell like trees and sunshine.

My absolute favorite memories of winter are those cold, silent nights when the weather gets a bit warmer and then freezes again. The top most layer of snow turns to ice and it shimmers like diamonds under the orange streetlights. You're walking and the only sound you hear is the snow crunching underneath your boots with every step, and your breath - which you can see in front of you like puff of smoke. Probably one of my all time favorite sounds. Then your cheeks get all frozen and numb and your nostrils stick together when you breathe in because it's so absolutely cold.

I'm so lame!

Writer's Block: Roamin'

If you were going on a week-long vacation to a tropical paradise and could only take five items, what would you bring?

I browsed some peeps' answers, and the general consensus is that it's an all-inclusive, 5 star resort and I lost all my luggage except these five items that I luckily had on me, so here goes!

Sunblock (the goooood shit: Hawaiian Tropic Sport 30SPF Oil Free Waterproof Aerosol kind), iPhone & all its essential accessories (they get 3G reception in Paradise, right?), my most flattering bikini, super sweet shades and an amazing book.*

If for whatever reason this isn't an all inclusive resort, then definitely enough booze to last the entire week. :) But in all seriousness, it's not paradise if it's not luxurious! And I always travel in style.

Writer's Block: Give me a sign

If your astrological sign has changed, do you think your personality more resembles your current or past sign?

For reference, the new signs are:
Capricorn: Jan. 20 - Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 - March 11
Pisces: March 11- April 18
Aries: April 18- May 13
Taurus: May 13- June 21
Gemini: June 21- July 20
Cancer: July 20- Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10- Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16- Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30- Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23- Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29- Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17- Jan. 20

So that means I meant form a Libra/Scorpio cusp to smack in the middle of Virgo! I am not familiar with this sign, but a brief google search leads me to believe that I am not quite ready to assume my new, astronomically correct sign. Let's stay where I am. Phew, good thing I didn't get that scorpio/libra tattoo!

Also, my niece is apparently an Ophiuchus! I'm all for it, as it is associated with Asclepius, the healer.

Writer's Block: A barrel of laughs

Who is the funniest person you know, and why?

I always try to surround myself with hilarious people. I've been blessed with friends and family that bring joy and light into my life day after day. Fun people are always a pleasure to be around!
Of course, my homegirls S&J would be top of the list. We share a similar type of humour, and I have had many a laugh with these fine ladies. Honorable mention to Vivillya, who doesn't always intend to be funny, but often makes me laugh anyway.
So many others, I'd have to think long and hard to make a list. For the moment, I would say the funniest person I know is Lucy, the stand up comedian shipped here from the depths of Germany. She just needs to walk into a room and hilarity ensues. I think if I spent any more time with her I would have a serious six pack from laughing so hard all the time.

Writer's Block: No reservations required

If you could go out to dinner with a character from a current TV show, who would you choose, and why?

Definitely Abed from "Community"! He is an endless source of hilarity, oh the things he would say! His mild form for Asperger's gives him the most insightful view of the world. I wish he would share it with me. We would be bosom buds, I can just tell!

Writer's Block: Around the world

If you won a trip to anywhere, where would you go, and why?

Easy-peasy: Barcelona! Because it is the most wonderful place in the world. It's like a magnet and I am drawn towards it no matter where I am in this world. Visca Barça!
I could write tomes on the marvelous city of Barcelona and its many merits, but it is 3 in the morning. Perhaps another time.

Writer's Block: Stories of old

Who is your favorite mythical creature/character, and why?

When I was younger, I was just floored by Disney's Ariel. Whenever I was playing around in a pool I would try to swim with my legs together and pretend I was a mermaid! However, now that I am no longer a naive child with unadulterated thoughts, I reckon giving up your legs for a stinky fish tail is a sour deal, especially if you lose all your naughty bits with it! And living in the ocean isn't all it's cracked up to be. You are constantly swimming in yours (and everyone else's for that matter!) excrement. The term "don't shit where you eat" is only applicable on dry land. I also imagine it to be very cold and dark under there.

I also used to be a fan of the Chimera, which is some weird creature with bits of lion, snake and goat if I remember correctly, but I don't quite recall the exact combination. I think the main thing was that the name sounded cool.

Nowadays, I fancy things that have the gift of flight. My favorite dreams are the ones where I am flying. I don't have anyone in particular in mind, but I guess angels and elves and fairies and all of those type of things would be top of my list.
