My World Fantasycon schedule

Tomorrow morning, I shall be setting off to Brighton for World Fantasycon. I'm not as ready as I'd like -- on the plus side, my hair has been cut and coloured -- I have purple streaks!! -- I have baked fairy cakes to take along (almost entirely lactose free [there are 4 with lemon curd in] plus some that are also gulten-free. All lemon flavoured, because, well, this is me.) I've done some packing. But I lost much of yesterday to a migraine and thus am behind. Bah.
Skirts are being selected (of course): green cord mini with deer print; teal and fuchsia flippy; beautiful batik beaded (by request of the marquis). I'm now havering between blue blurred flower print (just about my knee) and silky silver and lilac pint (floor length). These decisions are important :-)

And I have programme:

Thursday 3.00 pm.
Living in the Past: Writing Historical Fantasy
When writing historical fantasy, how important is it to stick to the facts, or is the past fair game for authors of fantastic fiction to manipulate how they wish?
Aidan Harte, Helen Marshall (mod.), Sophia McDougall, Mark Charan Newton, Tim Powers, Kari Sperring.

Friday 6.00 pm
I haven't decided exactly what to read yet. Any suggestions?

I hope to see some of you there.

Have a grand time.

We're off to Shropshire for a few days tomorrow.

Have a lovely time. I like Shropshire: just a very pretty county.

Have a wonderful time!
(I like the sound of the silky floor-length skirt. And I think you should read something which features Yelena and Julana.)

It's a very pretty skirt and it packs up small.
Ferrets always go down well, that is true.

That is a fun sounding panel I will miss because I'm not there until Friday :( Have fun and I will see you in the bar :)

It is A Tradition where the chair of this particular con is concerned that the 'hard fantasy' panel is on as early as possible, to get it over with.

I will see you in the bar where I will be rolling my eyes SO HARD.
Oct. 30th, 2013 02:38 pm (UTC)
Ah, thank you for reminding me to verify that I am not on the schedule anywhere for anything. :)

It is a very strange programme. This is clear. But looking forward to seeing you.

Ditto :-)
I am usually in the bar, it has to be said. WFC is all about talking to friends, for me.

Have a lovely time!

All I'm doing presently is laundry. :)

El V's flying to London from Barcelona -- he's going to have dinner with Our Host and spend the night with him. Gets home tomorrow night, in time to be blocked from getting home by the annual Village Halloween Parade, which steps off from our black, and blocks all traffic, vehicular, pedestrian and mass transit.

Love, C.

Laundry is a very important activity!
And I hope El V has a safe and uneventful trip home.

Have an excellent time. I hope your panels are fun for you as well as the audience!

Thank you!

Have fun!

I wish you were coming :-)

It's a wee bit too rich for the likes of me. Besides, I'm supposed to be writing a thesis.

(Although with luck I will manage to travel to see Steeleye Span. Wintersmith album tour!)
Oct. 30th, 2013 06:51 pm (UTC)
It's eye-wateringly expensive, as usual.
Steeleye played part of the Wintersmith material at the Cambridge Folk Festival this year: just fabulous.
Oct. 30th, 2013 07:04 pm (UTC)
I have been playing the album nonstop since it dropped. I'm looking at either Aylesbury or Bristol as possible "I could get there!" tour stops...

But yeah, WFC's too expensive for me to go to with everything else that's happening, and, well. The tone of the press releases are making me feel pretty good about that.

I've not read the panel schedule because I've been so blooming busy, but I will definitely try to make the Historical Fantasy panel, considering that's what the PhD novel is!
Oct. 31st, 2013 03:28 pm (UTC)
Have a good time.
