Hi. I'm no good at keeping two journals. This one is officially defunct.

If anyone has this one friended, but not my real journal, and cares? The real one's plainsong_x. But it's mostly a lot of complaining, so I don't feel bad if you don't friend it.

Have you seen this hoser? [03 Jun 2004|06:18pm]
[ mood | cold ]

I can say with absolute truthfullness that my sister's music sucks. *eats pudding*

First things first: Mum is home, has been for a couple days now, and is doing A-OK. Not, you know, perfect. But she's fine. She was even up to driving today! Which is a definite improvement.

Yesterday my sister graduated the eighth grade. The ceremony was long and boring, and made me dread my own. Afterward we went out to dinner, and then I retreated to the house of my sister's friend's older sisters, where I had Pot-Smoking Adventures. Which were, you know. Adventureful. I didn't get high, so I don't know, maybe it's something you can get into. But I was unimpressed. Also, uncoordinated -.-; so. BUT. Beforehand, we went to DQ, and I got a Mint Oreo Blizzard. That made the night (Ice Cream: Better than Drugs!).

Today I had my last final, Creative Writing. I failed. I so failed. Oh my god I have never failed a test as I did that one. *lying, hopefully* I am also convinced I failed my Consumer Ed final (which I need to graduate ... x_x;;;) — I was quite certain I'd passed it until the fourth (no. Seriously. Forth) time my teacher told me that he sure hoped I did well on that test, or else I was in a lot of trouble.

But. Anyway. Finals are over. Senior party on Friday (I think. Right?), and graduation rehersal on ... also Friday? I should probably know that, but. But. The point is. After that ... I never have to go to Stevenson again o_O; Does that seem a little weird to anyone else? It seems damn weird to me.

In approximately ten to twenty minutes, merrickm is coming to pick me up for the first SMUDGE Over Summer (henceforth reffered to as "SOS"). I think I will spend the remaining time inventorying my comics.

[ mood | worried ]

So, my mum's in the hospital.

But, I mean, she's okay. Earlier today she came down with what we thought was a UTI — something she actually gets pretty often. But the pain got pretty bad, and she went to the hospital ... and they think it's something worse. Although not, in fact, a ruptured bladder, as the worry had been, so she does not need surgery. Or, probably doesn't need surgery, anyway. But ... she's in the hospital overnight.

Blah. And I've got finals tomorrow, too.

On the plus side, my kitten is sitting on the chair next to me, cuddling and purring.

Oh yeah, Saturday. *forgot* [31 May 2004|03:09pm]
[ mood | chipper ]

So, Saturday. Saturday was the Prutrip. This is actually only the first Prutrip I have been on in my two years as a member of the Prufrock Society, and I would say it is my last, but as Kurt came on this one, apparently graduating does not affect your ability to come on Prutrips.

The Prutrip in question was called Today: Hyde Park. Tomorrow: Somewhere Else, and we, logically enough, took a trip to Hyde Park.

First stop was Powell's, where I did not buy a Latin/English dictionary from, like, the forties or something (the Snarskis convinced me it was outdated. Because, you know, I really need to know how to say "hot dog" in Latin), but did pick up the Cultural Resistance Reader, which looks ... really cool. It makes me feel all counter-culture, and it's bright green, which is always a bonus. Powell's was actually a really cool store, of the I-would-totally-go-back-there-again variety. I am all "ooo, used books! Shiny!"

So, yes. Then we in fact did not go to the Reynolds Club for lunch (Iamsosorrynewredshoes! *flails*), but instead to ... Bartlett or something cafeteria? This place = wins because it had a big mural that contained the words "the Glory of Manly Sports."

And then we split up, and some of us who are not me went to the oriental institute, and some of us who are me went to seminary co-op, where i got a DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN postcard, because that picture makes me glee, and flipped through a copy of the On Our Backs Guide to Lesbian Sex, which was really interesting and I kind of want a copy.

And then we went home. Keep in mind that for the Prufrock Society, bus rides are adventures in and of themselves. I ... am afraid it has been too long to even try and describe it properly, if I ever could.

And then I went to a party at sakkiechan's house ♥ and saw split_reality and had a variety of wacky adventures. Also I drove. So all in all it was a Big Thing.

And ... yes. I have petered out of talkingitude, so y'all are spared any more of my babble.

Also, note to self: burn a Cure CD for davedelamancha.

In which Jori engages in athletic activity and renews her faith in Jesus. [29 May 2004|03:49pm]
[ mood | chipper ]

So, wow.

Friday -- yesterday -- was my last day of high school classes ever holy crap. It was also Spring Fling, which for those of you who don't go to my school, ie most of you, is a ... sport ... tournament ... thing. I somehow found myself on a softball team, the Dukes, with ... actually, you don't really care. But. A bunch of people. We got ... slaughtered. We lost, like, 17-2. Ahaha. *sucks*

The important thing is, then sellubeautiful (Lisa P), Dan P, Shannon, and Lisa P's friend ivegonebananas (Kelly) went to go see Saved! First of all ... this movie is rocking the hot cast thing. Like, everyone in the movie was hot. All of them. (To mention: Macaulay Culkin is amazing. End story.) Also, OH MY GOD I LOVE JESUS. Seriously. I am like ... exponentially more likely to convert to Christianity after this movie. And it was just ... so cute. So funny. So brilliant. And, like, touching and stuff. Everyone needs to go see Saved! That's an order.

Then we went to Clarke's, and I had a burger and potatoes and omgilovefood. Hi.

And we listened to a lot of really good music, the only band of which I remember is Piebald. I might have to listen to them forever and ever from now on.

And today was the Prutrip, but my sister is all "OMGCOMPUTERNOW," so that will have to be updated about later.

I dearly and truly hate PhotoAnimator. If I fail Computer Art, it's all that program's fault.

On the plus (?) side, I have a Tootsie Pop.

PEOPLE WHO'VE NOTICED MY HAIRCUT:
artfact
Sara Ghadiri

I should find a way to get pictures.

Also? There's some sort of award ceremony tonight. The school is giving me some sort of award o_O; I ... cannot begin to imagine what it might be. *still not past being a State Scholar*

I am not as irritated as this icon may make me appear. I just ... like it. [25 May 2004|11:15am]
[ mood | sleepy ]

Yesterday I discovered that Mike Ehrenberg's name is not, in fact, Aaron Berg. Isn't that fascinating?

Today was a late arrival :D But I woke up ... approximately at the normal time. Because I went to Leila's for breakfast! ... I just realized I left my lunch at home. Shite. Can't eat today. *copes* ... But. Anyway. Breakfast! Which was really good. I got there really early, so I made fruit salad ♥;; and then these kids Josh and Alex showed up, and Alex made the biscuits, and Leila made corn bread, and I made bacon. And then everyone else showed up. And Alex made eggs. And we discussed inane song lyrics ("I'm bigger than my body gives me credit for"? Seriously? What does that mean?) and how Patricia is beautiful and looks like a genius.

And. Stuff. It was fun. I like hanging out with people. Mmmmpeople.

And then I slept through first period ^^;;; coz we were watching a video ... but everyone was talking and I couldn't hear it. So I figured fuckit and took a nap. *logic*

I was just handed back my Leopold and Loeb collage I made a while ago ... you know, I really like this thing. I should send it to myself so I can upload it. It looks Nifteh. *totally crushes*

Last night's dream was completely and totally bizarre. First there was some sort of whole ... family fued ... thing. Like, Capulets and Montagues. Except I think the whole thing took place at a mall. I remember some sort of difficulty with the parking garages, and also at one point I sold my hat to a girl who worked at a shoe shop. It was a cute hat. Then it was randomly about Giles and Angel *typed 'angelo'. mmmhabit* from Buffy except they were shapeshifting mermaids. No. Seriously.

And now I think I will work on my animation project. Since ... I am in Computer Art, and that is what I should be doing. But I'm going to fail the assignment anyway >.>; so. *futzes around*

Today I am getting a haircut :D :D :D Except that means I have to miss Film Club. Ragland is going to kill me.

I've been playing a lot over in the CD forums at Gaia, and I've been capitalizing there, so I figured I'd give it a shot here, too. Mmmshiftkey.

So, anyway. I just got home from a totally rad shopping trip with Mum -- my cousin's getting married sometime in I think June, and his fiancé's shower-thing is tomorrow. I needed something to wear. So Mum took me to Northbrook Court, and ... we went on a shopping spree ^^;;;

We spent an absurd quantity of money at A&F, mostly on blue jeans; this makes me ... extremely happy. *typed jappy. which. that too* They have ... such comfy jeans. And I got a couple shirts. And then we went to The Gap, where we spent even more money. And then we went to Lord & Taylor, where I finally got a suit. It = trés cute. I hope to have pictures. And then we went to the Bobbi Brown counter at ... Neiman Marcus, I think? Anyway. I got Hot Pink (yes, that's the actual name...) lipgloss, which pleases me greatly, because I am sekritly actually pryde_k.

And then we went to P.F. Chang's, where I had never been before. Yum, man. Simply yum. May be going there after graduation, which is like ... PAINFULLY SOON. HOLY CRAP. I'M GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL. *flails*

Last night, artfact and shaily_may and I saw Mean Girls. This ... was amazing. And Shai, I think you owe me a story ♥;;

I had a bunch of other stuff to say, but I've forgotten. *toddles off*

-- Oh: as time goes on, and I start Doing More with my offline life? This journal will become more and more, you know. Updated. And stuff. And the other more fandom-y. So.

  • wednesday, saw the dreamers with artemisathena, merrickm, jacky-who-goes-to-school-with-me, her sister sandy-who-goes-to-school-with-merrick, and sarah's friend elise. my official review of this movie: there coulda been more incest.
  • friday through sunday, went to snowball! had a v good time. learned to swing dance [sort of].
  • monday, saw clay aiken in concert!!1. also there was kelly, but eh. clay! clay! am big fangirl. big, big fangirl.
  • and for anyone who missed it, have become infatuated with a, the dc universe in general and b, bart allen, aka kid flash. holy crap.

might want to consider going to sleep at a reasonable hour tonight, as i feel asleep during consumer ed today >_>;; mr nowicki came over and woke me up. it was horrid. and then i - honestly - almost fell asleep walking through the halls to get to this class. i am so out of it, man.

i think the bell is about to rin-- oh, i called that.

    SO. ODDYSSEY. [18 Feb 2004|06:07pm]
    [ mood | happy ]

    it was good times.

first i had something called jazz styles, pretty much the entire text of which you can find here, as that is the website of the nice lady who taught it. what was interesting was when she was talking about the singers from all the different periods, and the list of names i recognized the most was from the bebop era* and she was all "this is when it was underground :D" at least it hink that's what she said but i was sort of *listens to pretty music, zones* so.

then i had block printing, which i do not think i signed up for. it was run by this guy mike [i think?] and his 'assistant' :D arturo who i had the hots for. he likes ♥the cure♥ and would have made it onto the list of kewlppl even if he wasn't hot. which he was. unfortunately, sat next to a very scary girl >>; i kept thinking she was going to eat me. she seemed vaguely mentally-challenged in that way where it's totally un-pc to say anything but there are a lot of girls like that? where they seem just...kind of slow and very loud. you may know the sort. HOWEVER. i made a heartagram stamp *hardc0re* so it all turned out okay.

then was lunch. it was lunchful.

then i went to see MUSICAL! the musical, which was a group of people who knew that improv was funny and that musicals are funny but didn't get that they were less-funny when put together. still, terminator the musical <3. have not, to my recollection, seen the movie [tomjoad? if i saw it at all, i saw it with you], and am curious as to if it's as lewd as the on-the-spot-musical version of itself.

past that was hebrew calligraphy! have completely forgotten how to write in hebrew! although i made a pretty decent go of it if i do say so myself. course was taught by a lady who makes ketubot, so that was cool.

and, uh. yeah. overall, pretty fun [although gabe got EVERYTHING I WANTED today. the bastard]. cannot wait until tomorrow. *glee*

what's that quote from good omens? "oh," said aziraphale dismissively. "bebop." you know the one i mean. someone help me out here.

    [09 Feb 2004|12:14am]
i think the highlight of the dance was fagle [the stodgy republican, note] turning to me at the beginning of a 40s medeley and saying "gosh, i really feel like it's the 1940's! that hitler, he's a bad guy. and mussolini, don't get me started! buddy holly, however..."

or possibly it was when he mc hammer!danced to "can't touch this." he was wearing american flag cufflinks.

    ANYWAY. the dance. and stuff.

--madri has just informed me that she does not have to go to school tomorrow in honour of abraham lincoln's birthday. this is on one hand fitting and on the other entirely unacceptable.--

so, um. let's see. saturday i wake up am woken up around one, because apparently when i say "by noon"... at any rate, gabe had called. so, i called him back. most of the afternoon, in fact, consisted of me calling gabe; considering he lives approximately a minute and a half away from me on foot, he took altogether too long to get to my house.

    ...

    ...

okay, you know what? i suck. i don't really feel like doing a play-by-play. the dance was good times. they played, like, no bad music, which was amazing. i had mini hot-dogs in croissant-wrap-type-things and mashed 'taters and lots of sprite. my feet hurt likeabitchomg. but it was so. much. fun. :D

will post photos when i get them. 'specially the ones gabe and i took in denning's music room; gabe's all scrowling and posing with a red bass [i know, i know. but it was red, okay?] and i'm pulling my best meg white, ie looking displeased and hitting things. *not a drummer*

and, yeah. afterparty was at denning's. had ice cream! watched some of a steve-o video, then jodi and i very nearly left on a haggard run [despite the fact that i'm unliscenced and she didn't have hers on her] because we liked the genre but the video itself was like, physically painful to watch. discovered that sean [who looked. so. rockin'. i may have a crush] has met steve-o [who he says is, no pun intended, a jackass], as well as bam and johnny. and that bam is like the nicest guy. which i was like o_o; over. but hey :D whatever works.

we played karaoke revolution :D somehow i won :D :D

at the end of the night it was just me, denning, wang, and sean. i was the only girl who slept over x_x; and we watched a lot of girls gone wild infomercials.

i blame that for the fact that i had a dream about britney spears doing pr0n.

i should listen to simple plan. why don't i listen to simple plan? i think pryde_k likes them, actually, so i probably have some on my computer. hmm. note to self: look into this.
