If Wishes Were Fishes (Wishlist) updated

I am looking to embrace your weak and weary anime dolls. Perhaps you have a Sailor Senshi that did one too many Love-Me Chains or Halations and now needs a reprieve... Or maybe a Magical Girl that did one too many transformations. Well, I'd like to be the girl who grants her one.

Just a few details on Buying things

If you actually live (remotely) near me, we can arrange to have a pickup done for your purchases. That way you can avoid shipping costs on items that are heavy like books. A public place would be best, like in front of a Walmart, or at a Mall or something.
If you pay w/ paypal and wish this to be an option you must:
Make note in comment box that you are picking this up locally.
Sign and date a form/paper stating you recieved your goods.

Or, if you wish to do local pickup + pay via money order or cash, you can avoid that

As I've mentioned before, I am willing to ship anywhere in the world, including US APO (military addresses).

I will try to ship out either the day I recieve payment, or the next if possible.

I accept payment via Paypal, Moneyorder, International Postal Moneyorder, (well hidden)Cash, and cashier's cheques. I do not accept personal checks.

Everything is from a non-smoking, pet free home.

"National Bankruptcy Day" New law goes into effect Feb 10th

'The road to hell is paved with good intentions.'
Well, I have no clue how many people this likely will effect here, but apparently the government in their infinate wisdom want to go all gestapo and protect the American public from themselves.

National Bankruptcy Day article
The actual law

All product on the shelves as of February 10th 2009 and after -whether it is old stock or not, has to have special certificates to be sold (specifically if it can be considered to have use for children under 12 -or if that is the products target group). It's unknown whether or not this applies to resale of older toys of which are sometimes collected by adults, but the law does say 'any' item even if it was previous 'old stock'. Church groups have already had to have put a stop to the making of simple quilts, knit blankets, baby caps, and children's clothing -all of which is typically donated or used to raise funds - simply because of the fact the new law requires all that fabric and yarn to be tested. This new law also applies to books as well.

Book blog.
So, this new law pretty much effects everyone. The little old lady across the street who made blankets and donated them to families in need can no longer do so. The school library will now have to spend even more money testing their books to make sure that they are safe for kids -which will amount in probably higher taxes for the communities they serve. The adult who makes stuffed animals and gives them out as gifts will be effected -each differently colored fabric has to be tested. That comic book store with all the collectible figures (not to mention comic books) wont be able to sell them as well under the new law cause hey -that figure was primarily intended for a kid when it came out.

At least now Toys R Us's massive inventory clearance sale makes sense. I asked an associate there why the store seemed to have almost everything clearanced. She stated that they had to make room for new stock since a great deal of it did not sell at Christmas time... Still though, it didn't make sense to me that almost the whole store was marked, though knowing about this new law going into effect makes perfect sense now.

Borrowed from Justin's Journal. Slightly similar to what I posted on a friend's board...

4. When do you take the tree down? I think we left ours up till mid January once ^_^;

5. Do you like eggnog? Yup!

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Hmm. Not sure. Everything was pretty neat :D Maybe my little 110 camera that I received in 4th grade :D Although I'm sure there is probably someone out there who wasn't so keen on it. But the chances of a person who knew me then, and reads this journal seeing this are pretty much 10% LOL.

7. Hardest person to buy for? Ray's Dad.

8. Easiest person to buy for? Mia/Serena/Max :D Mia goes for anything Shoujo, Serena likes video games and books, Max is in a Star Wars phase right now.

9. Do you have a nativity scene? I've got a few courtesy of my Mom :D

The Stars Shine Bright...

A few nights ago (August 4th or 5th), we were treated to a glorious night sky complete with falling stars. Overhead, we were able to see even more of the Milky Way than we had been able to before in this state. This makes me curious as to what conditions exactly helped this along. There was no haze, and I believe it might have been a moonless night. Is it possible that Chicago, being 1hour-1:30 hours east of us, and having various other towns south of us w/ partial power outages could have contributed to this? Or was it just one of those cases of being "In the right place at the right time?" I believe we were out at around 9:30-10pm in our back yard, though there is a chance it could have been later. In any case, it was nice to see so many twinkling bright stars. Venus burned brightly, and the Northern Star was very much visible as well.
