Strength 11 typhoon in Taiwan, strength 12 hurricane in Lousiana. The latter apparently originated near Singapore, starting small and gradually building up as it crossed the Pacific. Lots of people dying in New Orleans (good God, nobody told me people still die from hurricanes)--thankfully much fewer dying over here. The one over here will pass before my flight leaves on Saturday, but it's still unsettling. First major earthquakes in Japan, Taiwan, and Turkey, then the cataclysmic tsunami around much of Africa and South Asia, then strings of killer cyclones in the Atlantic and the Pacific.
It's the ennnnd of the worrrrld as we know it, and I feel fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.
