the church search continues

Attended service at Mount Olivet Baptist Church this morning. It's one of those Second Englightenment-style all-singin', all-dancin' gospel churches Harlem is famous for. Not my cup of tea, but nevertheless a pretty powerful experience.

Precious Lord, take my hand,
Lead me on, let me stand,
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn;
Through the storm, through the night,
Lead me on to the light,
Take my hand, precious Lord,
Lead me home.

Home. I don't even know where that is anymore.

Also, an amusing quote from Rev. Robinson: "I don't say I'm broke. I say I'm between blessings."

it's time to feel good!

The "Walkin' on Sunshine" folk cover contest is over! We only had one entry, but it was a doozy. Congratulations to my old high school buddy _devillicious_, who delivers us the absolutely stellar winning cover.

Kudos, Big Fishy! A winnar is you.

You can still post covers if you want, but you won't be as awesome as Big Fishy.

(UPDATE) Anna sends in this gentle, soulful cover, just a few days too late. A nice counterpoint to the upbeat, foot-tappity simplicity of Fishy's version. Enjoy.
