After slogging through what three mutually independent sources agree was an Absurdly Horrible Day (ask your local drama-monger for details), it was a real pleasure to see this. It's a YouTube video of a very special boxing match.

In one corner is Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka, the Ann Coulter of the geek world--the hyena who almost singlehandedly created an Internet subculture around mocking other people's hobbies, and created an exclusive paid-membership forum for the snickering high school bullies of the world to congregate and discuss pressing issues of the day, such as: how nerds suck, how the Web sucks, how to beat up nerds, how to beat up nerds using the Web.

In the other corner is Uwe Boll. The man who takes games with enormous story potential--or at least enormous camp potential--and completely rewrites everything except the title, so that a tense, cinematic survival-horror game about a guy trapped in a haunted house becomes an overly-serious, completely flat movie about a detective in the future shooting things with assault rifles. The man who snaps up the movie rights to every cherished, cinematically adaptable video game he can get, so that no one will ever have the opportunity to make a watchable movie from a game. Hey man--it's a video game. What do you expect? Tension? Pathos? Pssh. Video games don't have stories, they're just about shooting the shit out of shit.

No matter who wins, it is a good time to be had for all.
