May. 14th, 2006 @ 10:35 pm probably just a near-inevitable coincidence, but...
...well, it made me smile.

A koan from a random journal:

A realist and an idealist were walking in the woods when they were attacked by a bear. "Look out! It's a bear!" cried the realist. "No, it isn't," said the idealist with some excitement, "it's God."

They both died, but the idealist died happy.

You know, I just had a thought: Fifty years or so from now, no one will "get" postmodernism. Postmodernism is totally dependent on a canon of pop culture icons, themes, and archetypes that will become obsolete the moment Nick at Nite stops airing I Love Lucy reruns. The snotty arts students of the future will see South Park and Kill Bill not as wickedly clever social commentary, but as a collection of tedious, masturbatory jokes that don't make sense without a massive tome of footnotes and historical references. To the snotty art students of the future, we will be the next T.S. Eliot.

I spent half an hour today playing wiffle ball with my neighbors in the Talcott third floor hallway.

One wall is comprised entirely of windows.

I like to play sports dangerously.
