Just saw another great movie with an awful name: Straight Shooter. It's about a retired British army seargent trying to hunt down a serial killer/sniper he trained. Doesn't sound like a particularly original plot, but that's where this movie shines--there are few cheap thrills, few stupid action/mystery movie cliches, virtually no one-liners, and no extremely big-name actors (none I recognize, anyway), just great storytelling and character development all the way through. I'm guessing it was made for TV: the pace would be way too slow without the occasional commercial break, but on the small screen it runs like a good detective novel, with a nice balance of suspense, action, and introspection. The ending is truly inspired.
