I can't seem to wake up, and I don't see much reason to do so, either.
Plans for today include zoning out in front of my boxset of ER and making icons of Kellie Martin.
I was in the mood to eat Brussels Sprouts today. I've hated them for years, and preferred corn, or even simpler, a salad. It takes real finesse to make them the good way, however, and my mother often failed at this when I was a kid. My mother cooks the meat too fast, overcooks the vegetables and reduces the tomatoes to nothing more but mush, all of which has turned me off eating properly, and choosing the easy way out; fast food and candy.
But ever since I ate them in this shimmering lingering meaty state that my mother once made for an old fashioned Walloon meat stew, I've loved them. There is nothing more delicious than brussels sprouts that ooze their juices as soon as you stab them with your fork, and yet, are crispy at the same time.
But vegetables are not having a very good year. Potatoes often turn out spotty, blackish and hard at the core after cooking them. Tomatoes aren't as juicy. And today, on my plate, my beloved brussels sprouts, turned out to be rotten at the core. We immediately threw them down the garbage bin.
This is getting ridiculous. What the hell IS safe to eat these days?
