Well damn.

Legendary rock venue, CBGB, closes doors in NYC.

Anyone with a more than passing interest in 70's or 80's music, particularly punk, is likely to be acquainted, to some degree, with CBGB's, in name at least. I've never been back to the Big Apple since I lived there in my youth(and I mean youth - I was like 5 or so), but I've heard the name enough to know that it was legendary.

It's a shame that after surviving 3 decades of rock and roll that it has to get shut down like this. On the other hand, since the public has generally turned away from real rock music in the past decade, it shouldn't be too surprising that it's day was coming.
