yesterday was the annual church picnic at lakewood park. services were at the park outside followed by a potluck picnic. my overachieving ass assembled a cheesecake with the shield of st. peter on it:

and it was a very much traditional cheesecake with an oreo crust and refined sugar in the batter and decidedly  NOT how i make cheesecakes now and thus completely inedible to me, but i still have about half a container of refined sugar to unload, which i could probably just throw away, but i hate wasting food. anyway, i got a lot of compliments on it.

molly is one of the older ladies at the church. she's very active and serves as chalice bearer from time to time. obvs i am still getting to know her seeing as we've only been going for the last month and a half or so. yesterday at the peace, she came up to me, administered a huge hug, grabbed my arm and said "amanda, you are such a vibrant person. you live your life the way you want to and don't care what others think. you keep doing that, and please stay with us."

i assured her i wasn't going anywhere.
