I haven't watched the canon for this fic in at least five years. Probably more like seven. I haven't been involved in the fandom for only slightly less time. But I must must must pimp this fic, which I wandered to via thefourthvine:

Subtleties by eliade

It's BtVS post-finale Spike/Xander, and it is every good adjective I can think of. (There's a reason I'm posting this at 3:30 AM.) Gorgeous and painful and funny and and and...oh, just go read it, go right now. There's no need to be any more than tangentially familiar with canon to understand it - any questions you might have are more or less answered in context.

the unbelieveable has happened, kids: I am tired of R/S. inspired by kabeyk's request for H/R, I've started looking for it all over the place. and now I put it to you, my small and erstwhile flist: got any good H/R or S/D lying around? (yeah, I've been reading that too, and it is delicious.) help!

ahem.

dogdaysofsummer

remus lupin and sirius black: in love, with each other, in the summer. the sticky, sultry heat; the beach; the dirt, and skinny knees; all through the month of august.

because our boys are ready to come out and play.

::thumbs up::

response to statelines' challenge. title is from an ani difranco song. no fandom, no pairing - I know who I'd put there, but you should choose your favorite and plug them in. tell me who you put.

oh no don't close your eyes

smell of coffee, elbows rubbing, flannel and wool. laughter. laughter and noise washing over ears, warm and comforting like a blanket on a winter night, the cup in your hand, the thigh against yours. feels like home. always felt like home.

you're laughing at something she said but you can't even remember what, too caught up in the gentle ebb and flow of smiles. not a participant in this conversation - you're content to sit and watch, lean back into the booth and wrap your hands around your cup. warm. you can't remember the last time you felt so warm.

the head to your left whisks around suddenly and all you can see are sparkling eyes and white teeth, hair whipping a second after the head and those eyes. that smile. you return it, wrapping your hands tighter around your mug - you don't need his hand to squeeze.

you'll write these words down in your notebook when you get home, in the list of words you're learning the meanings of - warmth. contentment. comfort. you'll hold on to this memory with both hands. it'll come in useful if you ever need something to warm you.

after searching the lexicon, I'm still totally clueless. is there a specific canon time when james and lily got together, or can we just assume it was towards the end of Hogwarts?

also! wanted: one (1) person willing to beta S/J assuming I finish it. if you're not interested, do you know someone who is?

I like tiny fandoms way, way too much.

little is more frustrating than being involved in, say, Dead Poets' Society fandom. you've got two hours of film just *begging* to be slashed, but there's barely even a community for it on LJ. furthermore, the only person I've found who writes solid Charlie/Todd is retired from fandom, and I don't like Neil/Todd. gragh! Rarelitslash is just a headache, because it's exactly that - hard-to-find slash about stuff that most people don't read. Brideshead Revisited slash? there are ten pieces of it online, and while they're all good, there are TEN. Outsiders slash? not on this internet. for heaven's sake, I was slashing that book in my head before I know what slash *was!* It's right up there with Sports Night (thank god, a decent sized fandom with solid writing all around) in terms of subtext. grumble. my own private idaho is another crazy-irritating one to find, and merchant of venice slash? HA! no.

so if you're reading this, and you happen to have resources for any of these fandoms, help me out! I'm starving for something good.

AAAAGGGHHHH!!!

i have found the un-find-able set: an ljgroup that is not only consistently high-quality, but updates at about the speed of light.

remusxsirius be damned! i love you too much to stay away!
