Tired

(no subject)

Thought I'd just update for the sake of updating.

Books
I'm in the middle of the third book in the Witcher series, and it's going slow. I don't know if it's just not interesting or I'm just getting to be a poor reader.

When I don't have that book near me, I'm also reading a translation of Heaven Officials Blessing - should there be an apostrophe in "Officials"? - and it's either not that good of a translation or the book is just not that interesting.

So in short, I'm in a reading slump. We're going on vacation soon so maybe I should find a book to get me out of this slump.

Translating
I'm 1/4 of the way through translating an old (early 2000's) Taiwanese drama that I really enjoyed in my youth. After that, I'm going to go back to translating 2010's Dream of Red Chambers. At some point, I'm going to do:

- Black and White because I just don't like the current translation on YouTube and the video quality is also not great.
- Legend of the Condor Heroes because the current hardsub translation is on poor video quality.

So all in all, I would say I'm enjoying this thing where I translate dramas that I like and just don't have good translations/good video qualities. I'm a perfectionist so I would like to match good subtitles to good video qualities if I can. But the above three projects will probably take me up to next year and beyond.

Drama
I'm on episode 4 of Train with my mom, and I think I'll have to give up watching it with her for various reasons. I'll just try to finish up the rest of the 8 episodes by myself and that's only really because I feel obligated to finish it so I can write about how underwhelming Korean dramas are to me.

All by myself, I picked up watching In a Good Way over the weekend. I like both leads and it's comfortable to watch in the way that Taiwanese drama is comforting to me. I'm also slowly making my way through the epic Oh My General. It's inoffensive but just also really long.

I'm glad Henry made me watch Cross Fire despite my reservations about having to look at Lu Han's face. His face is still.....but who knew he would actually be a halfway decent actor? It's a pleasant surprise and I'm also pleasantly surprised that a drama about e-sports actually has a good amount of gaming content.

Watching that drama really makes me want to shoot things up.

Games
To fulfill the desire to shoot things up, we started playing Army of Two. It's a game we got 10+ years ago but never played. The shooting is just okay and some of the gameplay is very frustrating. But it's something to play co-op and it allows me to snipe.

What to do with our lives???

Now the MCU marathon is over, what are we going to do with our lives???

And I think that's that!

I would definitely watch Lost Romance at some point, but not now since not all episodes are out yet. If length is a consideration, I would watch Train. It looks so serious, but at least it's only 12 hour long episodes so it's not a huge time commitment if it ends up sucking.

The in-game aspects of Cross Fire is compelling to me. But if I can't stand the face of one of the MLs, can I really watch 36 episodes of it?

For some reason, I just can't get excited about Joy of Life but feel I should watch it. I probably prefer Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty.

Back from Knowhere

Where does the time go? I'm not sure if it's the working from home or if I'm legitimately busier at work. But I feel like I have no time for things recently. Just today, I finally finalizing our upcoming vacation. It was very last minute planning (for me) and very confusing because of things like COVID 19 travel restrictions and also finding lodgings that would take a dog. America is very surprisingly un-dog-friendly.

Real life aside, we've been having a Marvel Cinematic Universe marathon the past few weeks. And yesterday, we finally finished with Spider-man: Far From Home. So like a dork, here's my MCU movie ranking and thoughts:

And I just spent too much time looking for GIFs on the internet. Well, what else was I going to do with my free time?

That Stupid Guy (but not Alfie's Stupid Guy)

I'm still slowly working through Handsome Siblings. It's like a roller coaster. The first 10 episodes are crap and I almost gave up. But then I thought it got really interesting for about 10 episodes until it flattened out. I'm at around 37, 38 and it was almost picking up again but I've just been very busy at work recently so have had no motivation to watch it after wards.

In any event, Henry and I kept up our nightly drama watching and finished Amensalism rather fast.
