Hello world

Heard from my brother! He escaped the horrors of the airline terrorist thingy and arrived in the US of A about a week before all that shite went down.

He's at a place called State College of Pennsylvania. Staying with some people there, or some such. He is planning a weekend trip to Cinncinatti. That's all the info I got out of him. Oh, and there was a skunk in the yard and he wanted to go outside for a smoke but he didn't want to get sprayed by the skunk and he was too afraid to poke it with a stick. Ah, such hijinks.

I looked up Penn State on the interwebs and it appears Large and has many campuses. I'm guessing these would all be in different towns and/or suburbs of Philadelphia? Any of my 'merican flisters know? I want to find out exactly where he is so I can look at him on Google Earth.

In other news, I might be getter a new car! The car place has a nice little Proton that they're getting on a trade but we have to wait and see if the other peoples' finance comes through. I'm so over car shopping, I just want a vehicle already!

Also, I am happy with Ch 10 at the moment because they are putting Futurama on every weeknight. That's a lot of Zoidberg.

I have some icons to post but Photobucket's being a bitch. *kicks it*

Ok, so I've been tagged twice now, so I guess I'd better...

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your livejournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

1. Black fingernails, red wine - Eskimo Joe. I just adore this song right now, it gets in my head something fierce. Thinking of buying their album based solely on the strength of this song, something I don't often do.

2. LDN - Lily Allen. This one gets heaps of air time on JJJ, it just makes me happy when I listen to it.

3. Let's get together - Madonna. I am loving her latest album, it makes me want to DANCE. In leg warmers.

4. Sin Sin Sin - Robbie Williams. Another catchy one, and the film clips is hi-larious.

5. Hips Don't Lie - Shakira. I fell in love with this song when I was in Malaysia, it just makes me want to bellydance SO HARD.

6. Who Knew - Pink. Just really catchy. I like the angsty lyrics too.

7. Beep - Pussycat Dolls. Yes, I know they're stupid and it's just generic R&B crap but it's just got a good beat. And it reminds me of Thailand, because they play it and 'Don'tcha' 24-7 there.

Not tagging anyone, play if you feel like it!

In other news, Futurama is coming back! This makes me happy.
Also, I went and saw The Breakup with linnyjane this afternoon. It was pretty 'meh'. Not much in the way of fast-moving plot, just a lot of yelling and relationship angst. The best thing about it, IMHO, was Vincent D'Onofrio. Mmmmmmm. Goran. I still can't figure out why I am attracted to his ridiculously sexy brain.

Weekend of Awesomeness Part the Second

So we had an awesome fandom marathon last night... thoughts:

SG-1: Window of Opportunity

Xehra: I loved Jack in this. He's so funny. I liked the premise as well, and Teal'c is just Da Bomb. Best line: "Bad Example".

Nawl: This is the ep where one of my favourite lj icons comes from. The best part's are after Jack and Teal'c realise they can do whatever they want without getting into trouble for it. Particularly the golf - "In the middle of my backswing?!?"

SG-1: Absolute Power

Xehra: How hot is Daniel without his glasses? He's sexy when evil. Liked this one a lot, though that Zen Kid was kinda creepy.

Nawl: I want to agree with what xehra has said but then go a little bit further fwd. I like the idea of using dreams to teach - especially in the world context now. If there is some higher being, it would be nice if they could teach the so called world leaders that they are really fucking things up. But on a light note. mmmmmmmmdaniel.

Atlantis: Hot Zone (as per nostalgia_lj's suggestion - thanks darl!)

Xehra: Extremely good - I loved when Rodney just lost it and thought he was going to die. Though Nawl tells me he always thinks he's going to die :) Nice and tense with some light moments. I'm beginning to really like this show now I understand it more.

Nawl: I'm so glad this ep got suggested. I'd forgotten how good it is. My not so secret plan to teach xehra of Rodney love and Shepwhoring is working. I must admit that I'd like to know more about Rodney's sister. Apparently she's mentioned in season two, but I'm avoiding spoilers like the plague so until it shows there will be silence.

M*A*S*H: The Interview

Xehra: This is just one of the best episodes ever. I almost cried through some of it. Hawkeye is especially brutally honest in this. I could watch this one over and over again.

Nawl: Favourite episode from the early days of M*A*S*H. Ferret face never fails in being annoying. Radar is just adorable. I love his talk about how you have to look the kids in the face. And Father Mulcahy is always at my top of my love list. Can't forget Hawk though.

Futurama: Love's Labour's Lost in Space

Xehra: This is one of my all-time favourites because it's the ep where we're introduced to Zap Brannigan, who I adore. Also has some of the best lines of the first series. Fave: "Kif, I have made it with a woman. Inform the men."

Nawl: Dear lord. Thank you for not showing us Zaps balls everytime he moves. Poor Kif.

Futurama: Mother's Day

Xehra: Notable for its old-people sex. Ewww. I love the communist greeting card robot in this one!

Nawl: Oh dear!! The flesh moves. I've really got no where to go with this. Its funny but oh so wrong.

Enterprise: Silent Enemy

Xehra: My fave Reed/Sato episode, though they get hardly any screen-time. The whole plot in this one is light as a feather but also has some great giggly moments in terms of slash. I was very proud Nawl immediate spotted the potential of Tucker/Reed during their argument about phase cannons :)

Nawl: I was a little worried about xehra's fasination with this show but having now seen my firt ever ep, I'm sort of impressed. Kinda soap opera-ish but fun all the same. He he, bum fun by three with captain arse hat in the middle.

Best bit was where Trip asked if they could sleep in the next day to which the only reply is yes, but together.

Coming up...

More M*A*S*H / Firefly / TNG and a movie of something at somepoint. Probably LoTR or Pitch Black.
