Standing on a Soap Box

I don't often use my journal to discuss "issues", but something has come up which I just cannot ignore.
Few people are probably aware of it, so I figured I may as well spread the word:

Violence against fences.

I know exactly what you're thinking: What have fences ever done to us? Every once in a while they keep us from something we want, but I think if we examined those situations more closely we'd find it was *we* who wanted something we shouldn't have...

So, who would do such a thing? Who would violate a poor, defenseless..fence?
The sad truth is, I don't really know. But a couple of days ago someone did just that. Assaulted, with paint and sloppy brush strokes the fence in my front yard. What once was a proud, flaky-white barrier, now stands shame-faced in rust red. Why? WHY?? I wish there was something I could do. Some way to comfort the little monstrosity..but I can't even bring myself to look at it. Each day I return home to find it cringing there between the lawn and the sidewalk, the mottled paint job barely covering it...

I suspect the perpetrator is someone close, both to the fence and to myself: The Landlord. I sent a desperate plea to this man, this land "lord" asking that he make amends, but I have yet to get a reply.

Cases like this should not be ignored. We should fight them. Should bring a voice to all those disgraced objects of the world. Small an act as it may be, perhaps this post will help open someone's eyes. Help to make sure this poor fence doesn't get white washe...hmm...actually that wouldn't be so bad.

Never mind.
