I just finished cooking up what I think will last me a week of lunches and dinners. I made: daal; rice; sweet potato stew.

I'm pretty happy about all this cooking. Except right now I don't feel like eating any of it. I just ate some cucumber. A bit earlier, I had a Subway wrap.

I also did some cleaning! My room is looking a bit better. Hopefully I'll get more done tonight. But perhaps not.

I also went to the shops today, bought a couple of things and dropped my new jacket off to get altered (sleeves are too long).

Now I need to go wash my hair. I have heaps of stuff to do tonight and it's already almost 10pm.

current mood: productive

I guess nobody reads this. Not even me - I've given up reading my friends page. It just takes so long.

I'm busy, and tired. All this getting up early and getting home after dark is a killer. If I pass my three months probation I will hopefully move closer to the city, which will cut down my travelling time, which means more free time every day.

I guess I mentioned this before, but I got a new job, working in the IT Service Desk of a law firm. I've been here 6 weeks, the first three months is probation so I guess after that they decide if they want to keep me or not.

I should write some more about this job later. Right now it's getting late so I'm going to go eat some of the tasty soup my grandma made and brought over when she visited today. I love food.

I am trying to find a Help Desk job. Obviously it hasn't worked yet. So there's not much to say about all that.

I'm in a career dilemma.

I'm thinking of applying for the police force. I don't think anybody thinks it's a good idea except me. But it's something I've thought about for years and years. So I'm seriously considering applying when I think I'm strong enough to pass the physical tests.

I feel very old. It's depressing.

Speaking of,
I'm still working at Subway. I'm tired of it. But I finally have some savings.

One thing I have been doing right is getting fit. Running 4-5 days a week + some weight training. Though I've been slack with the weights. But running is my main exercise. And I walk to and from work.

I'm itching to knit something. I suspect it's because the weather is getting colder.
But I don't know where all the yarn stores are.
I want to knit some slippers. If that's even possible. I guess they wouldn't have proper soles so they'd be more like big socks. ... Oh well.

Yesterday was Buy One Get One Free Day. It was non-stop customers, queues out the door, until we ran out of bread and had to tell them to go away. :) We started the day with boxes full of bread, but we ran out three times. At least that gave us time to take breaks.

Would you really wait half an hour for half price sandwiches? I know I wouldn't.

7:56 pm - Schapelle Corby
The Australian Federal Police say drug dealers are known to use innocent travellers as unsuspecting drug "mules". They have arrested baggage handlers at Sydney International Airport for the offence. Drugs are inserted in luggage at one airport, a photograph of the target bag and its tag are emailed to the destination airport, where baggage handlers remove the drugs before the passenger collects the bag.

And of course, if the baggage handler at the receiving end slips up and misses your luggage, it will get to you instead, now with a stack of drugs.

Maybe this happened to Schapelle Corby. Or maybe she was smuggling drugs herself. I have no idea.

If 'proven' guilty by Indonesia's primitive court system, she will either be shot to death by a firing squad or spend the rest of her life in a Bali prison. If she is lucky she will get to return to Australia in some sort of prisoner exchange program, and spend the rest of her life in an Australian prison instead.

Can you prove her guilty, though?
This makes me mad and very worried.

Damn Indonesia. 80% of Bali's income is from tourism. Boycott?

I don't know what job I could get with it, though.

This is what has been happening lately:

I'm working at Subway, it's not too bad.

I'm still looking for an IT job. I had an interview on thursday for a programming job. The only other interviews I've been to were for sales jobs, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was ... lengthly. Over half an hour. I think my chances of getting the job are pretty pitiful, but they said they were only interviewing 5 people so I don't have many competitors heh.

I'm improving my diet. It's working now because I eat salad every day and not as much cooked food. The main things I'm noticing are:
Barely any cravings for chocolate and sugar and junk. I used to crave unhealthy food like crazy.
When I get hungry I feel fine. I used to feel sick, shaky, faint - the whole low blood sugar thing - and need to eat right away.

I'm also going for jogs. I need to build up stamina.

It's SO late. Yikes. And I'm hungry. I need food and then sleep.

Went to Centrelink at 8:30am as required. Then came back at 11:00am for the interview. So I got over an hour of walking today. and 40 mins of that was uphill and fast. Then I opened a basic bank account, which I will need for payments. At Centrelink they said they will send me a Health Care Card. When I get that I can travel on concession tickets & also be exempt from the monthly bank account fee.

After seeing the prices on deodorant at the health food shop (12 dollars for the stick), I'm convinced to try making my own. I'm sure there was discussion of home-made deodorant over at naturalliving but I have no idea where because I can't access the community memories. Sigh. I googled and found some basic recipes maybe worth trying. Maybe I'll just try plain alcohol, or cornstarch...

Hungry. Food time.

Sorry to post such a nasty picture.

I seem to have a job at Subway. I haven't worked there yet, but I was given a training guide which explains employee duties in ridiculous detail. I'll see what happens.

I've been volunteering at the Salvation Army store a bit.
I'm tired of customers trying to haggle.

I should not be up so late. I have to be at Centrelink at 8:30am tomorrow. Erghgh. Too early.
But I should be able to squeeze in 4-4.5 hours sleep. And I got a couple hours nap this arvo.

Yesterday it poured, pretty much all day and all night. Today there was flooding and storm damage.

Lincraft is having financial problems. Today they would not accept my gift voucher!! It's lucky I already used two thirds of it.

Dad and Carl convinced me to watch "first contact", or whatever it's called. It's decent, but no Vulcans on the Enterprise? And Klingons in the Federation! What is going on!!

I didn't know that David Reimer is dead. I remember reading the book about him ("As Nature Made Him") and it's so sad to hear about this.

Today I went to Centrelink, on Dad's suggestion, to apply for unemployment allowance of some sort. I have to go to some sort of information session and then an interview. The info session is in a week or so, at 8:30am!! If you are late you are not allowed in!

Also, I have been jobhunting, but with zero success.

I applied to volunteer at the Salvation Army store. (In Australia, unlike America, the staff are mostly volunteers) I hope they accept me, because having an unpaid job might make me look less lazy than having no job at all. A little.

Ok. There is no more news. I must go to bed.

Switching to baking soda + vinegar for cleaning my hair. Last time I washed it this way was three days ago and it turned out weird, it was limp and seemed oily to me. My parents thought it looked dry. Go figure. After today's wash I seem to have got a better result. It seems clean - I can't see any oiliness. And it's fairly soft and smooth. I haven't straightened it, though, so I'm not sure what it's final condition will be.

What a dumb thing to post about. Oh well.
