Title: we could be something
Rating: PG, whoo
Characters/Pairings/Fandoms: Jim/Pam (The Office), Remus/Sirius (Harry Potter), Nine/Rose (Doctor Who)
Author's Notes: So this was my good-bye gift for the lovely inksplotched who is now off to Brazil for a year. BON VOYAGE SARA. They're her ships in our shared fandoms and the title comes from a Kate Nash song because she likes Kate Nash. This was also posted in missinginks but I'm posting it here because... I.. am a narcissist, idk.

There are a thousand things wrong with this picture and really he shouldn’t be thinking this way.Collapse )
Title: the ghosts that broke my heart before I met you
Rating: PG
Characters, pairings & fandoms: Jacob/Bella, Edward/Bella (Twilight), Remus/Tonks, Sirius (Harry Potter), Jim/Karen, Jim/Pam (The Office), Martha/Doctor, Doctor/Rose (Doctor Who)
Length 480. I am lame.
Notes of which there are many: Okay first off, this is the first thing I've written that wasn't the result of a meme in way too long. Secondly, this is my first time trying my hand at The Office or Doctor Who, and only my second time with Twilight, and I feel weirdly self-conscious and insecure in a way I never do with writing. Ha ha. Also, I'm going to go ahead and say this is mostly for anythingbutgrey because a) I'm pretty sure she wrote a multi-fandom fic a while ago and that's what sort of gave me the idea to try this, b) crazy anons keep harassing her, c) she always names her fics after song lyrics or something and I feel like I'm stealing it from her and d) I never actually wrote her anything for her birthday like I said I would, so here. OOPS MONTHS LATE, SORRY.

Title comes from 'Ghosts' by Laura Marling, which I uploaded and suggest you listen to because a) it's pretty and b) it was what gave me the idea.

I present to you three of the (many) requested fics from that meme everyone's doing. Unfortunately I'm not doing them in, um, order they were requested or anything, just kind of... order of when I am ~inspired~.

jacob/tanya, for sharon, aka the first twilight fic I've ever written wtfCollapse )

So the UR.org Christmas Fic Exchange posted its reveals, which means I have the liberty to shamelessly pimp what I wrote... lirl.

Title: Thirteen Steps to the End of the World
Rating: PG-13
Characters & Ships: James/Lily, Sirius, Remus, Peter
Prompt: "The only thing more accurate than incoming enemy fire is incoming friendly fire." (for Satirise at UR.org).
Summary: Thirteen steps to the end of Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot & Prongs.
Excerpt: “Oh, just the way the lot of you – you’re very – I don’t know – exclusive. You’re all four in your own little world and while most of the time I’m convinced it’s a world of utter chaos and madness and stupidity, at times it seems like a much better alternative to a world of war and doom and gloom.”

Huzzah! And kudos to christycorr for actually putting this gigantic migraine together.

ETA - This is old news in the Twilight fandom, but this macro will always be hilarious.Collapse )
17 December 2007 @ 05:48 pm
I still lack updates of any kind, though I did finish my fic for UR.org's Christmas fic exchange. Naturally it's still i posting and secrecy mode so I cannot link you to any fic of mine that may or may not be posted yet, but that's where I've been. Well, that and exams. I also have one tomorrow. I should study, yes? But it's philosophy and philosophy is stupid because a) even when you know it, you don't do really well and b) even when you don't know it you don't do really poorly. Or, well, that's been my experience, anyway. Huzzah for circular definitions and post hoc fallacy and blah blah...

Yeah, I'm enthused.

Also! The fic someone wrote for me was posted, so it is my duty to rec it here. Yay.

Title: The Final Stage
Rating: PG-13
Summary: 12 Grimmauld Place is nobody's idea of the perfect place for a party. Yet that is where Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Nymphadora Tonks find themselves spending the fourteenth anniversary of Voldemort's defeat. Overwhelmed by memories of that Halloween night, the three just want to drink brandy and forget.

It is basically exactly what I was going for, which is impressive since I am apparently incapable of writing a half-decent prompt. Yay, mystery author! (Yeah, no, I actually don't know who it was. Mysterrryyy. *waves fingers spookily*)

As another means of procrastination, here's a random meme! Yay! I don't know. Um, go wild. (Give me other ways to procrastinate!)

Pick a fictional character from a fandom I know and I'll answer the following questions to the best of my abilities.Collapse )

So partially in thanks to nest_of_spiders and partially just through, um, my miraculous brain (pft), Puzzle Pieces has three new not-quite-drabbles-not-quite-oneshots tagged on to it.

First, a oneshot:

Title: Delayed Reaction
Rating: PG for massive angst
Prompt: "Numbing the pain for a while will make it worse when you finally feel it." - Dumbledore in GOF (If I were Chris I'm sure I could give you the chapter number too.)
Excerpt: He finds James' body first, and grief begins to work its way to the outermost edges of his consciousness, but he shoves it away valiantly. Any emotion is better than the unbearable impending heartbreak, and so he throws himself into anger and hatred instead.
Summary: Sirius represses his grief over the Potters for a very, very long time.

Dude my iPod just went from a very solemn Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again to a blasting (Phantom's music is quiet) Stayin' Alive by the BeeGees. The dangers of shuffle. *snort* Awesome.

Yes. These are all added to Puzzle Pieces, though they're longer, 300-700 words.

Title: First-Rate Intelligence:
Characters: Lily, James
Prompt: "The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function. One should, for example, be able to see that things are hopeless and yet be determined to make them otherwise." - F. Scott Fitzgerald
Summary: James is worried about the consequences of hiding.

Title: Something Old, Something New
Characters: James, Charlus
Prompt: Very loosely:"Beware of all enterprises that require new clothes." -Henry David Thoreau, Walden
Summary: The day before he goes to Hogwarts, James inherits an heirloom.

Title: Purveyors of Aids
Characters: Remus, Fred, George
Summary: Remus thinks about his favorite students.

I am on some kind of hideous writing kick. It is simultaneously entertaining (for me) and pathetic (because I am a sad, sad person with no life).

On that note I think I need to put some kind of drabble-collection-thing on UR, but I can't think of a good title. Boourns.

Anyway, yeah. This one didn't turn out quite the way I wanted. Damn.

Title: Should-Have-Beens
Words: 173
Characters: Sirius, with mentions of Regulus and James
Rating: PG

When Regulus died, Sirius had blamed himself.Collapse )
02 April 2007 @ 10:56 pm
I started writing this like two Christmases ago, and I never finished. And then, amidst my sudden writing flurry (which is POORLY TIMED, I tell you what, I have so much homework I'm neglecting in favour of creativity) I was like "HEY, I know how to end it now!"

So ...VOILA. A CHRISTMAS FIC IN APRIL! Yay! Well, I suppose it's not really that Christmas-y. But anyhow.

Title: How Lovely Are Thy Branches
Rating: PG
Summary: Late at night on Christmas eve, the Black brothers get into an argument.
Excerpt: “You’re an idiot,” Regulus decided, scowling. “There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the tree.”

“Yes there is!” Sirius exclaimed, tossing his arms in the air, suddenly incensed. “Everything’s wrong with it! It’s too pretty, it’s too artificial, it’s too… fancy and it’s too pretentious, just like everyone in this bloody house.”

18 March 2007 @ 01:12 am
It's finished! Whooooo the first complete non-oneshot I've written in like, a zillion years.

Truce, Chapter 4
Summary: In the face of Lily and James' strengthening relationship, Sirius and Lily realize they have no choice but to make amends.
In this chapter: Sirius finds Lily. They finally reach an understanding.
Previous chapters: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3

There is, as I mentioned the possibility of an "epilogue" -- for lack of a better word -- but I'm still unsure as to whether I ought to write it or not. As one reviewer pointed out, it isn't particularly neccessary; you know that in the end they get along. I think the main reason I'm inclined to write it is simply because Truce has been so much fun to write, and I have grown quite fond of Sirius and Lily.

Anyway, tell me what you think. It's a bit of a cheesy end, perhaps, but... well. It had to happen. =)

As a matter of interest, I was searching for the latest chapter of Silly Love Songs (still in the works, I'm afraid) and ended up finding a scene I had completely forgotten I'd ever written, and that I later scrapped entirely. It's old -- obviously, or I'd remember it -- and not particularly well written, but I think I might put it up here just for interest's sake. What say you?

16 March 2007 @ 02:37 am
I've actually got about fifty billion things floating around in my head I'd like to write. Strange. Too bad none of them are poetry or applicable to the huge poetry anthology I've got due in a week.

Ah, well.

Anyway, here's one that's perhaps the most fun to write:

Truce, Chapter 3
Summary: In the face of Lily and James' strengthening relationship, Sirius and Lily realize they have no choice but to make amends.
In this chapter: Things go awry on Sirius and Lily's "date". Remus returns as the voice of reason.
Excerpt: “What? I’m being honest, none of that ‘oh, I’m doing lovely, thank you, and how are the kids?’ crap. I also know it’s exactly how you would answer, were you to take a break from being a bleeding heart humanitarian and answer honestly.”
Previously:Chapter One, Chapter Two

I know it's short. Sorry man. It was a good place to stop.

Reviews are awesome.

26 February 2007 @ 03:56 pm
This has been brewing for a little while -- since before Truce, in any case, I told you I was on a bit of a Sirius-and-Lily kick. Anyhow, I like it, more or less. It's been a long time coming.

Title: Valedictory
Rating: Um, I put PG-13. They swear, like, twice. Omgz.
Characters: Lily, Sirius, James, baby!Harry.
Summary: The night before the Fidelius Charm is performed, Lily and James have the dubious task of saying good-bye to those they will not see. Sirius is the last to leave.
Excerpt: It isn’t that she doubts James’ decision, or even that she doubts Peter. James has assured her time and time again that this is their best plan, their only plan, that they’ll be fine, and the part of her with the half-filled glass has always agreed. Of course they will be. They always have been.

Standing in her foyer with her baby on her hip, her husband at her side and Sirius in front of her, though, she feels different. Her stomach is in knots, her palms are sweaty and she is even closer to tears now than she was when she’d given Remus a farewell hug twenty minutes earlier.

Er. Enjoy?

Current Music: goodbye my lover in my head. hahahah.
21 February 2007 @ 06:33 pm
Title: Truce, Chapter 2
Summary: Lily and Sirius decide, reluctantly, that they are left with no choice but to get to know each other, and maybe even be friends.
In this chapter: Remus psychoanalyses Sirius' disdain for Lily. Sadie questions Lily's logic. The date -- that isn't a date -- begins.
Excerpt: “Are you kidding? It won’t be that bad? I have condemned myself to hours with the bloody devil herself. It’s like taking McGonagall on a date. It’s like taking Pince on a date. For that matter, it’s like taking you on a date. And it isn’t a date, anyway. Stop using that word. ‘Date’ implies some kind of romantic interest – or any interest, really.”
Link to chapter one.

Time to write some limericks. Ew.

15 February 2007 @ 05:23 pm
Yeah the subject line pretty much says it all.

Title: Truce, Chapter 1
Rating: I'm gonna go with PG-13, because it'll probably make it there. And I think I said "sex" once, that's pretty much good enough to make it PG-13 (/stab at American movie ratings).
Summary: Given Lily and James' strengthening relationship, Lily and Sirius realize they are going to have to conquer their general disdain for each other in order to make everyone's lives easier.
Excerpt: An entire Saturday in Hogsmeade with his mate’s girl was not exactly Sirius’ ideal weekend. Besides that, his mate’s girl was Lily Evans and that in and of itself made the whole situation unappealing.

Yay. =)

22 December 2006 @ 12:11 am
Title - When Those Blue Snowflakes Start Falling, Chapter 3
Character(s) - Sirius
Excerpt - He glared out the window and used the side of his fist to wipe away the little pattern he’d been tracing. Rather than make him nostalgic, the memories served only as fuel for his disdain.

Yay. =) And WHOO! School is over! Excitement! Thrills! Joy! Okay, so I work approximately seven hours every day of the break, but no school. Yay. =) (And in an attempt to make myself feel better I have just realized that, assuming I work as much the second week as I do the first, I'll make ~$600. Sweeeet.)

Anyway, happy holidays. This concludes the three pre-written drabbles, but I'll presumably have plenty more time to write a few more now that school is (for the most part) over.

I still need to write the Christmas exchange fic, but hm, it's part-way done, anyhow. WHOO.

PS -- hee hee, deathly hallows.

Yay I wrote something! Huzzah for everyone who tried to inspire me. I will have you know that I wrote the whole thing to The Sacrifice, and Lexi gave me the basic idea here, so you all are winners! Yay.

Title: Trick or Treat
Rating: Pg-13. Um, people swear once or twice.
Summary: Halloween is by far Remus' least favorite holiday.
Excerpt:James rummages around in his trunk and produces a black cloak a size too large. He shoves one arm through, and struggles to pull the rest over his head, explaining. “Mum always packs me this incase my other cloak’s not warm enough. Says I’ll ‘grow into it’.” He rolls his eyes, pulls the hood up over his head and walks around the room as smoothly as he can manage at the age of thirteen. “See? I’m a Dementor!”

The formatting is a little wonky, I apologize. But yay, in time for Halloween!

Well, I did promise you all I'd post here when I uploaded something new.

(Yeah, and I know you'd all be absolutely CRUSHED if I fell through on that one.)

So, I have!

Title: Sanctuary
Genre: One-shot. I don't know how to categorize it, so I'm just going to stick with 'general'.
Rating: Eh. G, PG, nothing spicy.
Words: About 1,500, including the author's notes.
Summary: Possibly the one thing James misses most about his parents is the ability to crawl into their bed when he's had a nightmare. With the war raging and life becoming an increasingly dreary affair, he longs for that small safe place.
Excerpt: He finds himself wishing he still had that nook to crawl into, a warm, reassuring recess somewhere in the world, where good was all-encompassing and evil was nothing more than a myth, a nightmare. It would be, he thinks, much more useful nowadays. As he stands there, staring down at the perfectly smoothed sheets, he wishes desperately and unapologetically that he was four again, terrified by nothing more than an inexistent worry, a figment of his imagination.

(a fake lj cut?! what madness.)

So.. yes. Feedback is love.
