oh christmas troy, oh christmas troy
I. SO... I have a thread at the Holiday Love Meme. If I remember correctly I did this last year and it was cute/fun, so I am doing it again. I've also been lurking through the pages to see if there's anyone else I know. Do it! Everyone likes having anonymous people say nice things and Christmas is a good excuse for narcissism.

II. I just finished watching the Christmas episode of The Office and I thought it was great. This season has been so much better than the previous two, probably because the writers have some sense of purpose again, and it's so sad that the show is going to continue beyond this season in order to slowly dissolve into flames, just like Scrubs and That 70s Show and every other comedy that has foolishly believed it could survive after the lead actor wants out. It's too bad because then you leave the long-term fans with a lasting impression of "wtf?" when you could have gone out with ~dignity~. Britain, I make fun of your hilarious tv schedules all the time, but at least you usually seem to sense when enough is enough.

III. I also watched Misfits. lol the fuck was this episode?

I mean, this show is pretty weird, but... what? A gorilla? What? FROM WHERE? THE ZOO? WHAT. What even. Okay I did laugh when she took off the gorilla mask and it was a gorilla but like... what?

Also I guess Simon had sex with that pretty girl? I am so meh on Simon and Simon/Alisha. I guess I feel bad for Alisha, but I'm still like "FUCKING TIMEY-WIMEY SHIPS, GET OUT".

The shot of everyone in superhero garb was lulz though. And Alisha looked great as usual. Even though this episode was totally whack I am interested in the finale, at least. And the Christmas special which immediately follows the finale, lol Britain.

IV. Omg, we got my dog's hair clipped for the first time in his life. My mom did not tell me she was doing this today, because she wanted to surprise me I guess, and so some stranger-dog came to greet me when I got home from work, wearing a bandana. It is SO WEIRD. There was a second or so when I considered the possibility that some other dog was in my house (this is not unheard of). It is literally like some mysterious other dog has replaced ours and is just living in our house for some reason. I'll post a before/after picture once I get some.

He looks very poodley now, whereas before he was just kind of a big mop of hair. I actually think it makes him look cleverer, but maybe that's just because I associate poodles with being smart and mops with being mops.

my response to this episode was totally gorilla sex what? well alisha looks hot. this episode is weird. what even is this show.

But yeah, IA, it is pretty sad when sitcoms go on and on beyond the point of no return. D: Though you know me. I might be more willing to watch if there was no more Michael Scott lol.

also omg, posting in anonymous memes always freaks me out. WHAT IF IT DOESN'T WORK AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT'S ME SAYING NICE THINGS ABOUT YOU :O
Kali: dw :: donna :: spiffing! wot!_thirty2flavors on December 11th, 2010 05:46 am (UTC)

It just strikes me as funny that every network thinks continuing a sitcom without the lead will work even though all evidence points to the contrary. OBVIOUSLY THE THIRTIETH TIME IS THE LUCKY CHARM!

Then no one will let you join in any reindeer games. lirl, I unanoned myself just trying to lol at someone's Barrowman icon. Whoops.
Francesgoldy_dollar on December 11th, 2010 05:52 am (UTC)
I think the sad fact is that American networks will hold onto anything that has established decent ratings while generally axing new shows before they have had a decent chance.

Since Firefly I have basically adopted a policy where I don't watch an American show unless I know it has survived a full season lol.

lirl, I unanoned myself just trying to lol at someone's Barrowman icon. Whoops.

:O You will be LJ blacklisted forever.
Kali: ad :: why cruel world?_thirty2flavors on December 11th, 2010 06:06 am (UTC)
Yeah it's too bad, especially how quick they are to pull the plug on new shows. Shows basically have to be instant successes. Also, the masses have crap taste.

aleph: mad as a hatterlacunaz on December 11th, 2010 05:39 am (UTC)
Yeah I was 100% like..... what the fuck did I just watch. Why is all the sex on this show squicky? Is it like some kind of rule that they cannot have normal, functional couples?

Poodles are alright dogs when they're not being yappy and neurotic, so I guess there are worse things for a dog to resemble.
Kali_thirty2flavors on December 11th, 2010 05:49 am (UTC)
Yeah I don't even know, it was pretty weird and pretty easily my least favourite episode. I am not even sure what they were going for, honestly.

Yeah I have no big beef with poodles, it is just weird because he looks so unlike himself. He is all slim and stuff. He also looks taller because you can like... see his legs... other than them being 90% hidden by fur.

I associate mops with being mops too. So I feel you on that one.

It's too bad because then you leave the long-term fans with a lasting impression of "wtf?" when you could have gone out with ~dignity~.
I know. And this is probably The Office's third and last opportunity for a perfect finale. Unless they show the doc at the end. But even then idk.
Kali: scrubs :: star wars_thirty2flavors on December 11th, 2010 06:12 am (UTC)
Yeah and they are going to PASS IT BY. W/e it and the Scrubs finale will live on together as the ~true finales~.

I have so many conflicted feelings. All of them having to do with the idea of voluntarily leaving Pam behind.

I couldn't force myself to leave Gilmore Girls behind after season 6 violated everything that was sacred. And I don't love any Gilmore Girls character half as much as Pam.

I have a problem.

AWWW @ the office. I loved this ep.

I cannot even explain that sentence.

Everything about the "stranger dog" reminded me of Hyperbole and a Half, so YOU HAVE WON AT LIVEJOURNAL

Oh The Office. I have so many mixed feelings.

That this season is so good buttttt I'm pretty sure we're gearing up for some sad, sad s7. It'll be like Scrubs. Or That 70s Show. JUST DIE WITH DIGNITY, THE OFFICE. PLEASE.
Kali: scrubs :: frick on a stick!_thirty2flavors on December 11th, 2010 11:50 pm (UTC)
OHHH. Yeah, s8 (we're on s7 now I think?) is going to blow but I'm going to flounce even harder than I flounced from SCRUBS: INTERNS or whatever the fuck that was. never happened.

IV. ...and so some stranger-dog came to greet me when I got home from work, wearing a bandana.

I don't know why this sentence made me lirl. It sounds so cute though cannot wait until you post pictures xD I am still trying to convinve my parents our lives are incomplete without a pet but until I manage to get one I'll just have to live through others. ;_;
Kali_thirty2flavors on December 12th, 2010 10:24 pm (UTC)
I finally got some pictures so I'll probably post them soon. And PETS ARE GREAT idk it was weird for the year or so that we didn't have a dog. They seem like a lot of effort though and my mom does most of it, I can't lie.
placebetween on December 13th, 2010 05:17 am (UTC)
It's more like "I guess Simon had sex with THAT GIRL WHO WAS TOO TALL AND HOT FOR HIM?" because I am all about tall girls getting tall men in all possible scenarios.

I meant to comment back on you asking me if I had watched Misfits, but then I was like "I WILL NOT BE COOPTED INTO TALKING ABOUT MISFITS IN THIS RANDOM COMMENT THREAD, I WILL POST ABOUT IT" but clearly I did not. I am sorry. I give up. I watched this episode while slightly inebriated so when she pulled off the gorilla mask I was like WTF? LOL WINE.

I should rewatch it, but I guess it was a filler episode (IN A SIX EPISODE SERIES) so I don't need to. Fail.
Kali: misfits :: you need the right music_thirty2flavors on December 13th, 2010 02:39 pm (UTC)
LOLOL well we know they don't last, maybe she finds a tall guy elsewhere

On lj, pre-empting ur posts. Yeah this episode was weird thoguh, I just wanted someone to share my bafflement. It ended and I was just like "....the hell did I just watch?" I mean it's been weird before but the gorilla thing was like new levels of weird. I imagine inebriation could only have improved it. NGL as soon as he was all "sorry it's my instincts~" I was like "....oh no...." and then they were climbing the building and I was like "noooooooooooooooooo"

It seemed fillery yeah. IDK this season has been weird I don't know what the overall plot is. Future Simon I guess?
placebetween on December 13th, 2010 03:29 pm (UTC)
I don't know either. When he was climbing the building I was still in that "oh he just has super strength!" phase that I was stuck in for most of the episode, so the gorilla came as a total surprise. I mean really?

I hope they bring back some of the "you guys killed your probation workers" because that hasn't been resolved yet, has it?
Kali: misfits :: it's becoming a problem_thirty2flavors on December 13th, 2010 04:06 pm (UTC)
For some reason HE IS REALLY A MONKEY was a plot I anticipated enough to see coming midway through, but it was still fucked. I don't even know what the point was? Animals are... honest? ALSO I don't get Kelly's power, can she hear everything or not? You think at one point he would've thought something like "fuck, I hope she doesn't figure out I'm actually a gorilla".

No it hasn't, they've just dumped the bodies. I mean IDK what I want to happen but it should be addressed.
placebetween on December 13th, 2010 04:17 pm (UTC)
I don't know if this was a fan theory or not, but I remember seeing somewhere that their powers are tied to their self perception. So Kelly catches all of the thoughts that are related to her? I guess the thought you mentioned would fall under the Kelly-umbrella.

maybe gorillas just don't care when they're not gorillas

That.... sort of makes sense. LOL IDK this is one of the problems I have with mindreading, is that it's just kind of an at-your-convenience plot point most of the time.
