Annoying brain is annoying

It's really come home to me in the past few weeks how closely tied my migraines are to my current level of denial. When I'm trying to avoid something unpleasant, I get almost one a week.

Last night I got one in between aikido and eskrima, so I spent the hour-and-a-half class trying to relax enough so that I could participate. I would have just gone home, but the classes are absolutely vital for my psychological health, and turning into a bed-slug is just a bad plan all the way around.

So here I am, at work, contemplating skipping aikido for the night so I can get to bed at a decent hour. And get up and go back to aikido for open gym on Saturday. Gotta get ready for that belt test, whenever they decide to set it.

On the plus side - I got the first draft of the unicorn-pegasus-kitten story finished!

30 drabbles in 30 days

Stolen from deviantfantasy, who did this a few years ago and had a lot of fun so I decided to do it myself. The idea is to write 30 drabbles in 30 days starting on August 1st. This is to try to jump-start my fanfic brain again, which has been revving in neutral for too long!

The Rules

1. Reply to this post with up to five prompts (I may ask for more later). Pairings and/or characters are not prompts.

2. Your prompt will be added to a master list, which will be placed in a separate post.

3. When I come to your prompt, I’ll look at your user info page to see what fandoms, characters and/or pairings you like. Then I will write you a drabble.

4. All drabbles will be posted on my journal. And will be 100-200 words long.

5. If I do not get 30 prompts before the 1st, I will fill in the remaining spots with my own and write whatever I chose.

6. If you aren’t into fandom and/or don’t share the same interests as me, you might want to give me something extra to work with. I will write original fic for you if necessary.

7. Fics will be rated from G to NC-17.

This post will be closed on July 31st.

Go ahead and prompt me! :D

Current writing meme

Stolen from vegawriters:

If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, fanfiction or NaNoWriMo or what have you, post exactly one sentence/paragraph/whatever from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favorite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else -- this is merely to whet the general appetite for your forthcoming work(s).

This tells me that I should really get my butt in gear and finish these.

I started a comm today, to give myself a place to post my original fiction, or at least a place to whine about it. fevered_images

Anyone is welcome to join, though I'm moderating it for now. I just want to know if people want to join, is all. If it takes off like novel_in_90, I'll make it automatic. I don't think that's going to happen, though.

In particular ...

Harry Potter!

Yes, my Barnes&Noble saga will be ending happily. I think. Knock on wood.

The book is apparently waiting for me at the post office. It has postage due because I moved, but that's fine. Better $2.81 more than paying for another copy.

I'm such a geek. I had a hard time sleeping last night, wondering how I'd like the book. I had to fercrissakes meditate to make my brain shut up. Good thing I was also actually tired.

In other news: I did a large amount of novel planning today, so I'm hoping to get started on that again. As soon as I can tear myself away from Harry. Maybe I should plan on writing some before I allow myself to read. My past history indicates I'm going to have a hard time tearing myself away, and then I'd be worried that I'd sound like Rowling if I did write.

These are much better problems to have than the ones I had last year. Oy.
