Still I Lie Sleepless /// PG-13 ; Remus/Sirius ; Remus/Bill ; character death ; angst

Title: Still I Lie Sleepless
Author: hikaru / _regarde
Archive: Please ask permission.
Feedback: If you so desire.
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Character death, angst, first-person writing.
Pairings: Remus/Sirius; Remus/Bill
Disclaimer: They're all J. K. Rowling's, and I've got the feeling that she'd have my head for this.
Summary: Excerpts from the journal of Remus Lupin. Grief -- and relief -- come in many colours.
Notes: This was part of the Remus Remix on livejournal, based on a drabble by Casira, which can also be found here. I've taken some liberties with OotP, assigning dates to certain events, as JKR gave us absolutely nothing concrete to work on as far as dates are concerned. I started writing this on scraps of papers at work, which is perhaps why it came out as a journal. The title is from William Wordsworth's "To Sleep," and therefore is indicative of his creativity rather than mine. Thanks to Amber and Circe, who read this over and told me that it didn't suck. However, I never fail to tinker with things, therefore all the little errors are my fault.

Notes: Written for a drabble night in #knockturn.

Feedback: If you so desire.
Disclaimer: They're all J. K. Rowling's, and I've got the feeling that she'd have my head for this.
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100
Characters: Cho Chang/unnamed female
Summary: Cho wants answers.  Takes place some time during fifth year.
Notes: Written for hp100.  For the "heart's desire" challenge.

Cho ignored her apprehension and slunk toward the Room of Requirement. She'd heard stories about the Mirror showing your greatest desire and decided that she required the truth.

Once inside, the Mirror was displayed in its grandiose glory. She closed her eyes and concentrated on her desires.

When she opened her eyes, she was shocked. She saw herself smiling and hugging another person - another girl! Cho's eyes travelled up to the girl's face, and she gasped.

"Not her!" Cho flinched and turned away. Cho didn't want to desire her. Tears clouding her eyes, she spun and tore from the room.

Title: Last Words
Author: hikaru / _regarde
Archive: Please ask permission.
Feedback: If you so desire.
Disclaimer: They're all J. K. Rowling's, and I've got the feeling that she'd have my head for this.
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100
Pairing: Sirius/Remus implied
Summary: A letter from beyond the veil. Sirius writes a few words to Remus.
Notes: Written for hp100.

If you are reading this, then I most certainly am dead. Hopefully, I died nobly, not due to an unfortunate Apparition accident. Perhaps I even died to save you. Regardless, Remus, I am gone; you must carry on. You're the last Marauder. Please watch after Harry as James would've had us do, but please never lose that sense of self that I loved you for. Don't forget me, Remus, but don't let my death consume you, either. Don't sink into an endless depression, love, and instead know that I will wait for you, and join you on the other side.

Disclaimer: They're all J. K. Rowling's, and I've got the feeling that she'd have my head for this.
Rating: G
Word Count: 100
Characters: Neville, his gran
Summary: Neville gets some important results.
Notes: Written for hp100. For the OWL challenge.

Neville glanced about nervously. The long-awaited letter containing his O.W.L. results was sitting in front of him, unopened, begging to be read, and his gran was nowhere in sight. Even though he promised that she would see his results first, he knew that he wouldn't keep that promise. Gran would just compare him to his parents anyway. He needed these results more than his gran did. He was the student, he was the one who sat the exams, not her. He reached slowly out and drew the envelope closer to him. Neville gritted his teeth resolutely and pried the envelope open.

Archive: The Severus Snape Fuh-Q Fest Archive; anywhere else, please ask permission.
Feedback: If you so desire.
Disclaimer: All characters herein belong to JK Rowling and her minions. I'm making no money off of this, and am solely deriving some sort of sick and twisted pleasure.
Rating: R
Pairings: Severus/Remus, Remus/Sirius, non-graphic Severus/?? mentioned.
Summary: Snape offers closure.
Notes: Angst, character death. Part of the Severus Snape Fuh-Q Fest: Scenario 15: Snape bitterly watches them together, so oblivious in their happiness that they don't even notice him. Thanks greatly to my wonderful and amazing betas -- Shah-rhe, Gloriana, Fox, and Meredith -- for poking me with all sorts of pointy sticks (and in a timely manner, too!) to make me get this right. Huzzah for great betas. However, I can't resist the urge to tinker with my fic, and so all mistakes are still mine. The title is from a quote by George Henry Lewes: "The only cure for grief is action," and therefore is not representative of my creativity, but rather his.

I've grieved enough that I have it down to a science by now.Collapse )

In Death as in Life // PG

Title: In Death as in Life

Feedback: If you so desire.
Rating: PG
Characters: Sirius, Mrs Black, Remus, Harry
Disclaimer: They're all J. K. Rowling's, and I've got the feeling that she'd have my head for this.
Summary: Some things never change, even in death.
Notes: Written for hp100.

Sirius awoke to horrific screaming that he was quite sure he'd heard enough of in life.

"ASSOCIATING WITH MUDBLOODS! HALF-BREEDS! MUGGLES! HORRID BOY, TARNISHING THE FAMILY NAME! OUT! OUT OF MY HOUSE! DISGRACE TO THE WIZARDING WORLD! MY SON, MY OWN SON!"

He kneaded his temples with his fingertips, hoping that dealing with his mother's screaming voice after his death was merely temporary. Perhaps once he was done experiencing this particular horror, he would be able to do something more interesting, like haunt Harry, or spy on Remus in the shower.

"FILTHY BOY, STUCK WITH YOU FOR ETERNITY!"

No, apparently it isn't temporary at all.

How Dead is Dead? // PG

Title: How Dead is Dead
Author: hikaru / _regarde
Archive: Please ask permission.
Feedback: If you so desire.
Rating: PG
Characters: Sirius Black, Cedric Diggory
Disclaimer: They're all J. K. Rowling's, and I've got the feeling that she'd have my head for this.
Summary: Sirius has a few questions about the permanence of his death.
Notes: Written for hp100.

The teenager, clothed in Quidditch robes, looked down at the newest arrival to the Other World, who was currently staring at his hands in apparent confusion. "You're dead, Sirius." It was a matter-of-fact statement, not a question.

"How dead? Definitely dead, or didn't-see-a-body dead?"

"Didn't-see-a-body dead. You tumbled through the Veil of Utter Doom."

"Veil of Utter Doom?"

"That's what we call it here. Most of us come to the other world via actual deaths rather than stumbling through some Ministry-protected Death Curtain." The boy -- Cedric -- snorted.

Sirius frowned. "Is it more like never-coming-back dead, or haunts-you-in-your-sleep dead?"

"Never-coming-back dead."

"Well." He coughed. "That sucks."

Word Count: 50
Characters: McGonagall, Umbridge
Summary: Umbridge meets an appropriate end.
Notes: Written as a mini-challenge for hp100.

The dried blood encrusting the desk didn't seem entirely out of place. Red is a Gryffindor colour.

Draped carelessly on top was the misshapen lump of a body previously used by Dolores Umbridge.

"I thought you knew I didn't want you in my classroom." Minerva McGonagall smirked and walked away.
