The Stars and the Blackness Between Them (the cover art is so pretty) by Junauda Petrus was very powerful. After she gets caught with another girl, Audre is sent from Trinidad to her father's in the US. There, she meets his friend's daughter, Mabel.

The book is written in Ebonics. It has beautiful prose, as well as a few poems. I can't wait for more from this author.
