the proprietor would be most pleased if you would friend the new location, or at least give it a look-over.

It is a very long time ago, and she is telling him about stories. Wes/Fred; Tam-Lin; A Hole in the World.

Thanks to the ever-marvellous

lady_moriel for the beta job.

Because I had this weird little playlist collecting songs and one day I looked at them and said, "Oh. That's what you're for."

I tend to intersperse songs with little fragments of stories, but I think there are too many stories in this for me to write them in glimpses, because it isn't only Mal and Zoe's war, it's the Browncoat war, and there are songs for the soldiers and songs for those left at home and an old folk song or two that would've had a rebirth; it's part angry and bitter and part wistfully hopeful. The stories are your job, is what I'm saying. And maybe I'll write one or two of them someday.

DEATHLY HALLOWS SPOILERS. GO NO FURTHER, YE UNPROTECTED.

For lady_moriel, who never got her birthdayfic, but I think this is what she would want most of all anyway. Because they don't die at all, and because I have had that Decemberists song running through my head for two weeks now, and because I am not about to be resigned: the Lupins, after the war.

(I haven't bothered to explain how they got out of the battle alive, but it's really a simple chancy thing of being in the right or wrong places at the right or wrong times; the smallest tweaks and side-steps could have changed it, I think. Anyway, the war is not this story's primary concern: it is what happens after, and how they learn to cope.)

So, I had a song I thought sounded like Tonks, and I stuck it in a playlist and waited for other songs to join it, and when they did, they all turned out to be sort of brooding and dark, with cellos, and I thought, hang on a moment, Tonks is a generally cheerful person, what is all of this with the brooding and the cellos? And so the playlist turned into a mix which turned into Tonks-in-HBP, when Remus Lupin wasn't the only thing she had to brood about.

Anyway, I like cellos.

Some of the fic excerpts are recognisable from previous work; others were constructed especially.

(Also, I realise this is the weirdest possible time to post a mix of this nature. If it makes any difference at all, my version of the universe is, er. Well. It ends differently. Or doesn't at all. You know. There will be fic to prove it very, very soon.)

Lastly, an apology for my graphics programme, which made the text look a little funny after I saved. Blast.

Martha-fic, written (mostly by happy accident!) for safebox, on her birthday. (I seem to be eerily catching up on birthdays; I really hope this stroke of luck will continue.) Because Martha is splendid and deserves lots more fic, and also because I have been trying to break into Doctor Who ficdom for some time now. A love this obsessive should be more productive, yes?

For

faequeene, on her glorious eighteenth. You know, a month late. :D I wanted a mix of songs that you can blare really loudly while getting dressed, or driving, or when you need a pick-me-up, or what have you. So, lots of songs that are either very happy or sound very happy and are lots of fun to listen to (and possibly jump up and down to). (Also, sorry the back cover's a bit rubbish. My graphics programme was not kind to me. It looked worse after being saved -- apparently ArcSoft doesn't take kindly to certain colours near other certain colours.)

Because I am something of a nutter, the first decent thing I have written in quite some time is a rather tongue-in-cheek, thoroughly spur-of-the-moment poem about how I can't seem to write poetry (and other things) anymore.

Unofficial New Year's Resolution #37: Post on this journal more. I have art and (very occasional) poetry as well as fic: why do I rarely put any up? (Well, because it doesn't get a lot of comments, and I reckon I am Like That even despite myself. Ack.)

Poetry from last spring, which I was relatively satisfied with when I wrote it (and am still moderately satisfied, although some of the word choices seem stilted, and bits of it--don't sound like me), and part of my Campaign To Stop Writing Emo Poetry. Things occasionally happen to me, but rarely do I remember to write about them later. This is one of the exceptions.(P.S.: Title is complete and utter rubbish. I still can't think of anything better.) Also, I have new icons. They are very shiny.
