Patches of Light

  • 20th Dec, 2005 at 1:27 PM
Hmm. Have you ever felt you've written a fic that didn't receive the attention you think it deserves? I mean, I'm definitely not one to gush about my own fics; I'm more the kind that nags about tiny little mistakes but doesn't know how to fix them. Nevertheless, there is the occasional fic which I'm rather proud of that doesn't receive very many reads or reviews. It makes me sort of sad that my less-than-great works are getting more attention than the ones that deserve the attention. This fic, Patches of Light, is one of those fics I was just describing. I wrote it for the winter snows challenge on mnff. So umm...I'm just going to post it here, since I just started this and there's really no point in posting larger fics until people actually know it exists.

Title: Patches of Light
One-shot/Songfic/Chaptered: One-shot
Rating: G-PG (I don't even know the difference...)
Warnings: HBP spoiler
Ships: Neville/Luna
Summary: It was the week before Christmas, and Hogwarts had never been so sombre. Yet somehow, one young man still manages to find comfort and appeasement in the unlikeliest of places.

Okay, so I can't write Luna, but who really can?Collapse )

A Thousand Words (ch 1, 2, 3)

  • 20th Dec, 2005 at 7:05 PM
Okay, well I thought I would just go ahead and post the first three chapters of A Thousand Words here. They're already on MNFF, but I'll post chapter 4 tomorrow or the day after, since MNFF is going on that whole no-submissions break tomorrow.

Title: A Thousand Words
One-shot/Songfic/Chaptered: Chaptered
Genre: Romance, drama, angst
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: HBP spoilers
Ships: Hermione/Draco
Other ships: Hermione/Ron, Harry/Ginny
Disclaimer: All recognisable HP characters and storylines belong to the wonderful J.K. Rowling, and the story of the Phantom of the Opera (of which there will be references and likenesses to throughout this fic) belongs to Gaston Leroux, the writer of the original book, and Andrew Lloyd Webber, the amazing man who adapted the story into a musical.
Summary: When Hermione Granger, girlfriend of Ron Weasley, wrote "To my pen pal" for the very first time, she never expected that in the weeks to come, she would fall in love with this mysterious person who called himself "Shadow." The lonely and single Draco Malfoy, on the other hand, did not wish to reveal his identity when he himself began to fall in love with his pen pal, a girl called "Starlight." Will the two eventually find out who the mystery on the other side of the page is? And what happens when they finally meet?

Title: A Thousand Words (Ch 1)
Summary: Of challenges, unexpected encounters, and surprise visits.

Longest chapter I've ever written for a story...Collapse )

Title: A Thousand Words (Ch 2)
Summary: Of house-elves, unpleasant memories, and potions.

Draco is so adorable.Collapse )

Title: A Thousand Words (Ch 3)
Summary: Of breakfast, letter replies, and messy offices.

This one's a little bit shorter.Collapse )
