11:32 pm - Nature All A-Quiver
We find all kinds of things in our house these days.

It looks and sounds like a timber rattlesnake, but that's only a disguise, according to the fact sheet. There was only one, so Samuel L. Jackson is safe.

Not yet, since there was only the one (so far). If it left eggs, then yes, I'll be shouting that line loudly.

Can't you spray for those things or something?

The one snake was enough, why would I want to spray for more?

Did you catch it yourself? What do you do with these guys when you catch them?

Well, bearly_here is the expert in catching critters. Not that she does it herself; she gets me to do it under her direction. But yes, we caught it and let it go in a more suitable habitat (forest, near a big rock pile with lots of leaves).

Snake, it's a snake...ooooh it's a snake!

He's actually pretty handsome. I love his coloring.

So, I should have saved him for you to have?

It's kind of cool how he shakes his tail so rapidly that it sounds like a rattle, even though he doesn't have one.

I would've loved to adopt him, but DT and the Greebs might have been less enthused. Plus, he's probably happier to be wild.

That does sound cool though. Snakes are neat :)

Yes, but... is it poisonous??? The fact sheet doesn't say.

I don't think so, but I wasn't planning on eating it anyway. Nor is it venomous. :-)

The timber rattler is the only venomous snake in NH. The milk snake is just scary looking.

Wow, and I thought I had it tough with spiders in my bathtub...
