fic: as this sunset turns to morning (master post)
Title: as this sunset turns to morning
Author: _mournthewicked
Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: ~ 86,000
Warnings: Teenage angst of the existential kind, slight religious themes, and a healthy dose of schmoop.
Disclaimer: Not the slightest bit real.
Summary: Jensen spends his life hiding who he is from the family that would never accept him if they knew. When he’s uprooted in the middle of his senior year and suddenly becomes the new kid, his carefully placed mask begins to slip. Especially when he meets Jared – a loud, outspoken spectacle of a boy that fights for everything Jensen was taught to stand against. Jared has no problem going after what he wants, and now it’s just a matter of Jensen letting himself do the same.

Notes: Massive amounts of love go out to my incredible beta kamikaze_redux. I think I owe her my first born for this one, seriously. This story is dedicated to both her and the always amazing starweather. Any art you see throughout this story is all her. ♥

Just discovered your story "As This Sunset Turns to Morning" via Juice817's podfic. And I'm only on Chapter 4 so far (listening wise) but had to stop and drop by and say that I'm loving your writing and story. Shy Jensen, Sweet Jared. So good! Plus I like the descriptions you use of their body language and how you go back and forth between the 2 points of view. It really lets you feel things right along with the characters. It's terrific. I'm so glad I've discovered your story. Off to go finish it!

I just wanted to say that this story is amazing and one of my favourite fanfics ever. ♥

I listened to the podfic first of all (multiple times, I have to admit) whilst I was on holiday in San Francisco, and I have to say that I have never been so glad to have an 11-hour plane journey! I adored all the characters, and the writing was brilliant. ♥

So thankyou so much for writing such a charming story that caught me and didn't let me go until I'd finished listening and then reading. ♥ ♥ ♥

I am currently wiritng a Naruto fic, and I want to call it 'As This Sunset Turns To Morn.' I was pretty sure that was a quote and not just the title of a fic I've read (And loved!)

However, I'm not sure. If I may ask, does the title originally come from a quote, or from yourself? If it's a quote, may I ask where you got it from? If it is not, I'd like to ask your permission to use that title 'As This Sunset Turns To Morn' Feel free to say no, however.

It does not come from a quote. It's a rewording of a lyric from a local musician friend of mine that I came up with specifically for this story. Basically, it is an orginal title.

Absolutely amazing fic-- I'm horrible and didn't comment the first 47 times around, but now that I'm getting a Nook for eBooks I'm rereading all my favorites and this is at the top of my list! The way you write the boys is awesome as usual : )

Do you have this as a downloadable PDF file by chance?

This story is incredible. You have created a story that is realistic and true to life, peopled by some of the most amazing, believable, interesting, sympathetic characters I've ever met. I felt that Jensen's coming out process was very real, and you told it in a visceral, real way that was at times heartbreaking to read. Watching Jared and Jensen fall in love made me fall in love with them, too. Your characters were all well-defined, well-developed and likable, in a way that made me connect with them more than characters in many published works. I liked them a lot, and I am sad that their story is done.

What can I say? I laughed, I cried, I loved this story. Thank you for creating something so meaningful and enjoyable.

Okay, first of all, I just want to say that I LOVE this story.
I have listened to the podfic about 50 times and I still laugh and cry and awhh at the appropriate times.
Jensen's heart breaking dilemma of coming out was perfect and absolutely amazing.
The way Jared took Jensen in as a friend, wanting him to feel comfortable with him and then gradually showing Jensen that he did like him more than that was sensational and really heart-warming.
Oh! And Jared's mother. I. Love. Her! She reminds me a lot of my own mother. But the she treats Jared more of a friend and just accepts him for who he is and shows her love in every way possible is really beautiful!
I also wanted you to know that because of your story I have now created an unofficial GSA in my own school (I'm working towards getting it to be a official group). I have over 50 members and it was created less than 2 weeks ago. I have also took part in Day of Silence 2010 and later this year there will be a pride march in the centre of the city where I live and I will be participating.
Because of you and this story I like to believe that I have become a better person, opened my arms more and announced loud and proud that I support homosexuality and given a voice to those that are too afraid to speak up for themselves.
I am trying to be like a straight version of your Jared :)
Anyway, enough gushing over you AMAZING story and get to the point.
I want to thank you for changing my life and inspiring me to help change others.

Wow. Let me just start by saying how truly moved I was by your comment. It brought me to tears.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the story, and I'm awed by what you took away from it. Thank you so much for starting a GSA! I hope that it becomes an official, long-standing part of your school now, and I am so beyond proud that my story inspired you to do such a wonderful thing.

I wish you the best of luck in all that you do. Thank you for leaving me this comment and truly brightening my day.

And please keep me updated with news on your GSA!

Fuck this is an amazing story. It broke my heart, made me laugh, made me smile like an idiot.. all in the right places. I just want to let you know that you are quickly becoming one of my favorite authors... and not just in a fiction way. As in a all round, love the way you build your characters, describe things, evoke emotions, kind of writer. Thank you for being brilliant.

Just finished listening to Juice817's podfic, and I have so much love for this fic. The characters are all so believable and I really felt all their triumphs and setbacks. I actually felt sick and shaky for the whole of Jensen's confrontation with his parents, and I grinned and squeed like a mad thing at the first kiss, the prom, the rings, so many awesome bits. Definitely something I'll be coming back to.

This was a great fic. So much sadness yet hope and the ending was fantastic. I loved every bit of it and couldn't even stop reading after I started. I loved that it was so realistic and the relationship felt right. Also, Jensen quoting The Hangover in the first timestamp made me laugh so hard, I loved how he was kinda serious about it all, but mostly just hilariously tipsy.

If you're not comfortable with a .pdf, let me know and i'll delete it. :)

I just sat through 7 straight hours of podfic and I find myself longing for more!
This was an incredible journey. Your way with words is indescribable!

You covered so many topics, issues and created such a wonderful universe. I can't believe it ends now. Thanks you so much for sharing this epic piece of literature!
