Oh it definitely worked, and helped with the overall tone of the story. The readers were kept just that much off center and had to pay attention...just like our beloved characters in this now topsy-turvy world.

So wait, is this some kind of fic-a-long thing? You wrote a part, now someone else picks it up? I never heard of the apocolyptic site before this entry. Or does this mean you're doing a sequel or something?

No no. Just a ficathon, so the apocalyptathon community will have all kinds of multifandom stories today, if you're interested.

Someone else would be welcome to continue the story, but I doubt that anyone will ask to, I've never had a request like that. In deciding what to write, though, I created much more of the story than I told, mostly in the machinations of how the battle came to pass and why, the reasons things happened as they did and exactly how screwed Cameron and Sam are, and some possiblities for how things might go next, but all those answers were things they couldn't know, and while I have ideas about what would happen next, I decided to be evil and not go there (also? I decided to post on time) and this little story arc really did resolve as much as I think it's going to. If it feels like there's a greater story behind the scenes, though, that's marvelous, because I think Sam would be very aware of that too. No plans for a sequel, though.

Hee, I have mixed feelings. I loved their interaction and didn't want it to stop.

Plus (yes I know end of world...but that's why I don't often read these things) I keep hoping for a pull out of their ass saving grace later).

But I also love the openness of just seeing this part of their lives, like the reader is just passing through and moving on without knowing the ultimate outcome.

In any case, excellent job!
