Still here

I have been busy doing some projects. I tend to become very monomaniacal about things, giving them my full attention while everything else is put more or less on hold until I finish the project or get bored with it or the novelty wears off sufficiently for me to wake up and realize that there are still lots of other interesting things to do, as well. That is basically also what happened with livejournal. At first I was so absorbed in it that there was no room for anything else, but slowly I began to feel that it would be nice again to read a book occasionally. :)

I am still decluttering and have started to reorganize my wardrobe. And last week I suddenly panicked because I have to send in my 4-weekly application form to Social Security tomorrow, and I had nothing to show them yet. So I have been scouring the Internet looking for reasonably suitable vacancies, and have managed to find a few, one of them actually very interesting. Hopefully it has not been filled yet. At least for the moment I can breathe a sigh of relief.

And now, on to some stolen goods.

From bieiris, this wonderful photograph by August Sander:

This must be the cutest sheep I've ever seen, it's looking so sweet and alert. And those ears! ^^ All of a sudden I can totally understand Gene Wilder in that old Woody Allen movie. LOL!

Thank you! It would be great, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high, as I was rather late in applying.

Ah, well you never know... Mr Ron leaves absolutely everything to the last minute (usually taking the application to the actual address on the last day and popping it through the letterbox, and last time he got lucky!

Heh, that's what I did, too! The point is though, I didn't see the vacancy until last Thursday, but it seems it was already published on 2 April. No closing date was given, but as it was urgent, they may have hired someone already. Those vacancy sites are not always up to date. But, as you say, you never know. :)

Being obsessvie about one project until you've finished it has definite advantages. I, unfortunately, am infamous for not finishing projects...one of things about myself that really frustrates me and I would love to change / work on.

Good luck with the vacancies. What type of work are you interested in?
Mnemosyne_lethe_ on April 21st, 2005 04:24 pm (UTC)
Oh, but I have a tendency to do that too! When a project takes very long or I can't see any real progress being made, it risks losing my interest and becoming one more item on my 'unfinished' list.

Thank you! I am an information professional, but this vacancy was about another thing I love to do: corrector at a translation bureau. Unfortunately they had already hired someone, but they are keeping my CV on file, so that's not bad.

That sheep looks more alert and intelligent than the humans!

I haven't heard that Paul Weller song in a while, I like that one a lot.

Nick Nicely? NICK NICELY? Sounds bizarre and intriguing. I never heard of him or of that song. Nick Nicely....hmmm...wonders what that is like...

Everything you never wanted to know about Nick Nicely:

http://www.willem.to/nicknicely/int3.htm (contains lyrics)

http://www.willem.to/nicknicely/int5.htm

quote: Nick Nicely is a slightly creepy young man who got his ridiculous name in 1973 when one mate said ''give us a fag you sod'', and another said ''why don't you ask Nick nicely?''

And yes, there was 'DCT dreams' too (I loved that song as well, although not as much as 'Hillly fields'), so I guess 'one hit wonder' should really be 'two non-hits wonder'... And I see that a CD Psychotropia, containing both singles, was released last year! Hmmm, hopefully I'll have more luck ordering that than I had with Lewis Furey!

Added as an afterthought:
And to prove that I really would make a good corrector, it is of course 'Hilly'.

And I see that both Nick Nicely and Isabelle Antena have now been claimed by others as well! ACK! I have no unique interests on my list any more!
