Day 19 - Best t.v. show cast

Of course the usual suspects (Life on Mars, The Singing Detective) have a formidable cast, and no doubt several others do as well, but I decided to give the honours to The League of Gentlemen. Three actors playing most of the characters and managing to give each one a distinctive personality is no mean feat in my book.

Although I don't care much for comedy shows, the ones I like have very strong casts (more so than dramas where there is usually a smaller grouping of great characters surrounded by a bunch of 'okays'); MASH, Everybody Loves Raymond, Mary Tyler Moore Show, Will & Grace, for example.

A key word you used is 'distinctive' - really great shows tend to have more co-leads than support parts, and not just some flamboyant or goofball part that steals a scene every once in a while (which can be annoying because it ends up being a gimmick and detracts from the overall show, imo).

Law and Order: Special Victims Unit was very good in that respect, for a while, but it now suffers from the 'been on past its sell-by date', and the characters are becoming parodies of themselves - all extremes, no subtleties.

I have to go with an old favorite on this one - Star Trek, the original version; Captain Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty, Sulu, Lt. Uhura.

Edit - apologizes for bad spelling...RUNS!
