Neglect [May. 17th, 2010|12:44 pm]
Looks like I've been ignoring LJ.

Truth is, I have. I've been hanging out with Facebook. I'll probably be over there more than not, too, so to keep up, just add me there if you haven't:

If you posted on LJ in the last 6 months, I haven't read it.

God and Christmas/Holiday [Dec. 4th, 2009|03:19 pm]
Makers of a game (FarmVille) on Facebook introduced "holiday trees" with "holiday presents" you could send to people for their trees. The use of "holiday" instead of "Christmas" has caused a big stir among players of the game. Some have said they just don't think Christ should be removed from things that celebrate a Christian holiday just to not offend people of other religions. Others contend that it's just another scary step in the trend of GOD being removed from EVERYTHING (the pledge of allegiance was specifically cited).

I thought I'd bring this question to Livejournal for opinions because I think it's an interesting topic. So...

1. Do you think the game maker did something worthy of scorn by calling the items "holiday trees", etc. rather than "Christmas trees", etc.?

2. Do you think people should make such a fuss over it?

I began to go back and forth with some people on it and gave up when the pledge of allegiance was introduces into the argument. It's completely on a different level than a phrase in a game, but that's my opinion.

Not-so-tech update [Nov. 11th, 2009|09:38 pm]
I've been running around so busy lately that I haven't had time to even keep up with much. I have been fairly regular on Facebook, but not so much here.

Lately, I've been working a ton. Lots to do around the office these days. At the same time, Michelle and I have been trying to re-connect with projects around the house. I'd love to get into a different house, but we need to do more upgrades to ours before one day selling it. Last weekend (and sadly this coming weekend) was filled with planing doors and all kinds of wood work. Michelle cut a table in half and she did a pretty good job of it, too.

I also dove in a little more on the photography. I haven't really been doing a ton with the new camera before this month, but the NaNoMoBloGoJoeFoSho thing got me thinking about doing a Photo-a-Day thing, so I dove in and started. 10 photos later, I'm thinking it's a decent start (see below).

Now we're just gearing up for the holidays. I can't wait!

Vegas, Baby! (and updates) [Oct. 14th, 2009|01:38 pm]
First, it's been a while since I've posted. I've been BUSY, to say the very least. It's just been unreal the amount I've been working and LJ was kind of down the list of priorities. Things seem to be calming down, if only just a little.

So this weekend, just in time to reward me for all the hard work, we're going to Vegas. Of course, we're going for Blog World, which is technically more work, but it's a lot of fun. Tomorrow night, we'll be attending one of the bigger parties, Friday, we turned down a marketing dinner with all the blog elite (same one as last year) because we already have dinner plans with a girl Michelle went to high school with and her hubby. It'll be a little reunion. Saturday, we're going to see the Cirque show, KA, for free, and they're decent seats, too.

I'm sure I'll have a bunch of pictures up after the weekend.

Speaking of photos, a local marketing company contacted me about going to the launch of the new Porsche Panamera (and writing about it, of course). We'll be in Vegas on the weekend, but I might just stop by Monday and check it out. It's the first Porsche sedan, so that should be interesting. There's more about it, but I can't say until Monday.

Armed guard? [Sep. 1st, 2009|05:43 pm]
CPS used to be in our office building, and with CPS comes angry parents of children who were taken from them. There were a couple fights in a couple years, but nothing that worried me too much. Because of this, there was always a police officer in the lobby at night. Other than the one time one of them almost drew his gun on me (I startled him), I was glad they were there at night.

After a year plus of this new company being downstairs, suddenly they hired an armed security guard. The owner of the business is worried about someone coming after him, I guess. Now THIS bugs me because I have no idea what the story is. Will I have to worry about some guy coming to shoot the place up or did this business owner just randomly hire this guy with no provocation?

To be continued...

Urinator caught in the act [Aug. 25th, 2009|04:48 am]
The photo doesn't do it justice. The look on his face was just priceless when I popped up from the back seat of Michelle's car with a camera and started taking photos.

Caught peeing!
