Forever and a day

It's been a loooong time since I updated. I'm not even sure why since I have been watching tons of stuff and have had things to say about them. I think the problem is just that it eventually got to be so much that it just felt overwhelming to post about it. So I figured I'd start writing and see how long I can go before get tired of it.

The really scary thing here? I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting a couple of shows/pilots.

Okay, I think I've used up ALL THE WORDS now. Sorry about the word vomit and if you struggled through all that, I'm truly sorry. Cookie?

The rumors are wrong. I am, in fact, not dead

Last week was a close call, though, when I got sick on Tuesday morning and still had to work all week (racking up 50 hours total for the week. Fun! Except not.)

I really needed more than just a weekend to recharge, but that's all I get, so I tried to make the best of it. And by "make the best of it" I mean "buy the last charms I need to complete my Pandora bracelet". Collapse )

Other things that have happened:

  • I finally got myself that new cell phone I was talking about a few months back! And yes, I ended up getting an HTC Legend after all. I LOVE IT. Don't know how I ever lived without it. I've read two books on it so far, I've got two True Blood episodes awaiting viewing, I've become addicted to Mancala, Reversi and Unblock Me (any other game app recs would be most welcome!) and it's the only way I've been able to stay sorta up-to-date on my Twitter feed for the past two weeks.

  • I've been fairly good about keeping up with TV. Well, considering... Collapse )

  • I uploaded a bunch of icons today.

In other TV news, even though I enjoyed the Cougar Town pilot, I haven't watched a single episode since. Eastwick was starting to bore me by episode 3, and when the cancellation came, it just became one less thing to catch up with. Still watching and enjoying: The Good Wife, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, White Collar, Castle, Dollhouse, etc. My reality shows are all losing their shine this season. I mean, it's been a steady decline over the past few seasons, but this season there hasn't been a truly excellent reality season in the bunch.

my baby shot me down

Numbered lists seem to be the best way to get back into the groove of things:

  1. Collapse )

  2. I got my eReader yesterday, and even though I've only used it for a day, I already love it to death. I don't think I can ever go back to reading (long) fic on my computer again.

  3. This Strawberry Spinach Salad sounds really yummy. I'm going to have to try that some day.

  4. I uploaded some new icons to my Scrapbook.

  5. Collapse )

  6. I've had to take a few people off my reading filter because of spoilers, and I'm thinking of doing an flist cut. I mean, sure, it's just reaction spoilers, but just because you don't care about the show anymore (or love it so much you can't wait to Tell. Everyone. About. It), that doesn't mean I want to know. Though it seems silly to cut people right when TV is going into hybernation for the summer.

  7. Comedies are not making me dance with joy right now. Collapse ) Collapse ) Collapse )

  8. Everyone squeeing about Star Trek has made me dying to go see it, even though I think I've only watched one full episode of any of the franchises (a TNG episode where they go back in time? Or something?) Good job, flist!

  9. I'm taking the first week of June off and I can't wait! The best part is that it's vacation days I've saved from last year, so I still have five weeks of vacation coming to me after that. I'm going to try to find a cheap last minute trip to somewhere around the Mediterranean, and if that falls through, I'm going to redecorate my bedroom. Either way? So much win!

  10. Hi, Laura! =)

taking care of business

First order of business: I have one Dreamwidth invite if anyone's interested. Please include your email address in the comment. Taken! But if you're interested in any future invite codes I get, you can still comment and I'll put you on the list.

Second order of business: I haven't watched last night's HIMYM yet, and I think it's because I don't want to spoil my T: TSCC high (which makes no sense, because I've watched plenty of episodes today at work, but I can't help it - my brain sorts TV into two very distinct categories: Work and Non-Work). I watched the last two episodes last night Collapse )

Third order of business: AmazonFail seems to have worked itself out, and my bet is that the "glitch" is explained here. So, not a homophobic company policy, but company who allows some dimwit (or committee of dimwits) who is homophobic (or at the very least, very, very ignorant) to influence their policy.

But yay for me, because now I can order season one of T: TSCC! =)

I joined farscaperewatch, but the one-episode-a-week thing probably won't work for me. I mean, that's almost two years! I'll have rewatched the show a couple of times by then. But I did figure it'll be fun to follow along since I was never in the fandom the first time around. I'll probably pick up my last rewatch where I left off, at the beginning of season 3, instead.

Everyone and their mother posted about The Sarah Connor Chronicles this weekend, and since I haven't seen a single episode since the season premiere, I thought I'd make that the next show I catch up on.

I spent a ridiculous amount of time on this icon considering how simple it is. And it's still not right! But I'm past the point of caring. So I uploaded the new stuff to my Scrapbook.

TV

I can't believe that there still hasn't shown up a downloadable copy of HIMYM 4x15. I mean, people have it. And they've gotten it from multiple places. And no one is tech savy enough to remove the personal info and upload it to us poor embittered souls who are doing without. Won't someone please think of the children fans?!

And while I'm on the subject, why wasn't the airing moved up just a week? Isn't February still a sweeps month?

I have watched other stuff, though:

(no subject)

What is UP with spoilers right now? Have people just forgotten that you're not supposed to tell every single soul on you flist what an episode was about? Because out of the three posts in a row about last night's HIMYM on my flist this morning, two spoiled what happened, while another had reaction spoilers. NOT ON, PEOPLE!

As for the episode itself...Collapse )

On a more positive note, I made the most divine salad last night: mache lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, walnuts, chèvre (goat cheese) and chicken breast, served with honey mustard dressing. Yum! I'm having some for lunch in just a matter of minutes. I can't wait!
