Teevee

Only 1½ weeks left till my three week vacation! I need to distract myself with TV talk or it'll NEVER get here.

In other TV news, even though I enjoyed the Cougar Town pilot, I haven't watched a single episode since. Eastwick was starting to bore me by episode 3, and when the cancellation came, it just became one less thing to catch up with. Still watching and enjoying: The Good Wife, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, White Collar, Castle, Dollhouse, etc. My reality shows are all losing their shine this season. I mean, it's been a steady decline over the past few seasons, but this season there hasn't been a truly excellent reality season in the bunch.

TV

I can't believe that there still hasn't shown up a downloadable copy of HIMYM 4x15. I mean, people have it. And they've gotten it from multiple places. And no one is tech savy enough to remove the personal info and upload it to us poor embittered souls who are doing without. Won't someone please think of the children fans?!

And while I'm on the subject, why wasn't the airing moved up just a week? Isn't February still a sweeps month?

I have watched other stuff, though:

Iiiiinteresting....

So, apparently this is happening. Hmmm, I'm not quite sure what to think, because I doubt many - if any - shows will be able to regroup enough to be able to put out any more episodes this season anyway. And I know Bryan Fuller has already said that there probably wouldn't be more episodes even if the strike was resolved soon. But still, good news for the summer fare, right? If it works out, that is. *crosses fingers*

Considering my own fannish status when it comes to FNL (which is to say: virtually non-existent), I'm surprised I haven't seen the more active fans mentioning this. Again, a rumor, but it made me hopeful that maybe we'd get other early releases. Personally, I'm practically drooling at the thought of Pushing Daisies DVD caps.

Speaking of DVD caps, some new uploads:

Movies
Little Voice

The West Wing
7x14 - Two Weeks Out
7x15 - Welcome to Wherever You Are
7x16 - Election Day Pt. I
7x17 - Election Day Pt. II*

*the caps haven't finished uploading quite yet, so they're not there right at this very moment. DONE!

Things I have learned today: when your eyes are already irritated, capping Election Day Pt. II does NOTHING to help alleviate the situation. In spite of this, I think I'll be continuing to cap the rest of season 7 for the next few days. Just not right now because I prefer being able to see when I cap. What can I say? I'm quirky that way.

Since I started falling behind so early in the season, I decided that I would try something new. Unless I absolutely LOVE a show and "need to watch it right away, OMG!" (which means HIMYM, 30 Rock, Office, MNIE, Dexter, Bones, Daily Show, Colbert Report and, once they start, Project Runway and probably TAR [more for spoiler reasons than OMG!love reasons]), I'm saving them up and watching them in blocks.

I just did my first mini-marathon today:

Oh, and in regards to my subject line, does anyone know when The Wire will be starting up again?

FNL

Yesterday I started a project I've been thinking about for a while now, but have been putting off because it's going to take a while. I'm redoing all the thumbnails for all my caps (all 300 000 of them!), making them 150px instead of 100px. I've redone about 50 000 or so, but I just dread tackling the larger galleries.

Which won't be until next week at the earliest because I'll be driving down to Germany over the weekend.

Bits and bobs

My mother called me earlier and right after I hung up I realized it was my parents' wedding anniversary. They're not big on celebrations (and, in fact, forget it more often than not) so I'm not too bothered. I make a note to call her when I've finished Conan.

I finally call her, wish her a happy anniverary, tell her to wish my dad a happy annivrsary too. It's not until I hung up from that call that I realize that it's their 40th. Custom or not, sick or not, I really feel I should have done something for such a momentous occasion. Now I feel bad.

Amazon.co.uk is having a 4 for 3 sale so I bought a bunch of TV shows (and got the complete series of Tru Calling for free), but when I'd placed my order I was told it'll be delivered in late November. Are they kidding me? Only one DVD set wasn't in stock, and that one had a waiting period of 3-4 days, so I immediately e-mailed customer service.

Looks like I'll be translating the Emmys again this year. Though not alone this time, which THANK GOD, especially after seeing the reactions of my friends list. I gather neither the show nor the award recepients were to people's liking? I haven't even bothered to find out who won.

As I hinted earlier, I've been feeling a bit sick, and even though I felt wretched yesterday I think I got more done than I have in a single day in ages. Well, if you count watching a backlog of TV "getting things done". Fortunately, I DO. And I did put in a full day's work too, so there's that. I also cleaned, shopped for groceries and read fic. Who knew a cold could provide such an energy boost?

Bored now or boring now?

After nearly three days of sloth, I'm feeling very sluggish today. And it's not like work would be a chore since I'm translating Conan with Clive Owen and Alan Alda today, and yet I can't get moving. I spent the morning doing administrative things and have managed to translate something like 50 words on top of that.

And my productivity is not helped by the fact that my Becoming Jane DVD arrived in the mail earlier today. I wanna waaaaatch! /whine

I went to the movies on Saturday. We only meant to catch one movie, but when we arrived at the theater we saw that there was a sneak preview of The Bourne Ultimatum (it's not premiering until this Friday), so we decided on a double feature.

Collapse )

The Bourne Ultimatum was a fun ride, but from what I can recall of the books, it didn't even remotely resemble the last of the trilogy. Actually, aside from the basic premise, I don't think any of them have. Of course, it's been so long since I read them that I may be completely off the mark there. Especially since I think I'm getting them mixed up somewhat with Tom Clancy's oeuvre.

However, Bourne actually prompted me to send a complaint about the translation for the first time ever. I wouldn't have bothered if it wasn't for the fact that the movie hadn't been released, and my complaint might actually prevent the vast majority of the viewing audience to grit their teeth at peppers being translated into pepper, having to see Neil spelled as Neal throughout the entire movie (even in the subtitle translating an on-screen document that clearly reads "Neil") and being told that 1000 yards equals 300 meters, which... No, it really doesn't.

I've rewatched the first half of Friday Night Lights (and I think I'm now caught up to where I stopped watching last season), Collapse )

I haven't forgotten about the request icons, by the way, I just spent the last couple of weeks overwhelmed by work and when I finally got some time to work on icons I felt like I'd lost my mojo.

Oh, and I keep forgetting to thank whoever sent me the anonymous v-gift, so thank you!

Saturday night dead

Yesterday I updated the V/L:MFEO picspam to include some suggestions from the comments and a few more I've found. Like the only real instance of jazz hands, which I, brilliant that I am, completely forgot about. It's a good thing Veronica is so fond of the jazz hands because finding a match for her was easy (though the bug removal wasn't. Right on her hand. Ouch! You better believe I'll be replacing that one as soon as the DVDs come out.).

Also, my favorite part about the entire picspam is that Logan has almost the exact same expression in both handcuff scenes. So I guess that means that as long as there's him, Veronica and handcuffs in the same place he's a happy camper. ;-)

I wanted to make some Office icons earlier, but from episodes I haven't capped yet, and couldn't cap due to not having access to the season 2 DVDs at the moment, so I went looking for DVD caps of season 2 and...I couldn't find any! I mean, some here and there, but not a complete gallery anywhere.

I'm just being extremely stupid in my search, aren't I? I mean, surely there must be a complete gallery out there somewhere, right?

Speaking of The Office, I'm just loving Jim/Pam and Pam more and more this season. I don't know what it is, I just feel ridiculous amounts of joy about the whole thing.

And now for the part where I'm disowned by 99% of fandom...

I've been thinking about FNL lately and why I feel so removed from everyone else's opinions. My biggest problems with the show right now? Collapse )

The Post That LJ Forgot

Now that that's done I might be able to get back to "normal" posting. I have about four picspams half-planned out in my head. And only two of them are VM!
