So. Many. Premieres.

Not even halfway through this season's premieres, but my recent return to private journaling has left me with tons to say about what's aired so far. So let's get to it!

Fall TV Newbies

Let's just skip right over the fact that I haven't posted in months even though I've been here all along. What can I say, I just haven't had much to say that couldn't fit into 140 characters or less (i.e. I've been posting on Twitter, at least for the past month).

As per usual, I'll be trying a ton of shows once fall premieres start rolling around (I feel it's always best to try out a lot of shows since they rarely stick around for very long. Sure, I'm still watching a bunch of shows from last season - Orphan Black, Elementary, Chicago Fire, The Mindy Project, Veep, The Americans, Nashville - but only three shows from the year before - Homeland, Scandal and New Girl). Here's how it all breaks down:

New tv! Old tv! Basically, it's all tv, all the time.

So, my new computer is kind of awesome compared to my old workhorse.

Since I updated Firefox to 15.0, though, Tumblr isn't working very well for me. I can't like posts, enlarge images or watch videos. My best guess it's a conflict between the new version and one of my extensions but I can't figure out which one it is.

Oh, and AdBlock Plus isn't working right either. The AdBlock Plus issue is only on the new computer, so maybe it didn't like that I copied my profile from my old computer. Maybe I'll just uninstall and reinstall it, see if that fixes things. I had the Tumblr thing on my old computer as well.

Anyone else been having issues with Firefox 15.0?

The rumors are wrong. I am, in fact, not dead

Last week was a close call, though, when I got sick on Tuesday morning and still had to work all week (racking up 50 hours total for the week. Fun! Except not.)

I really needed more than just a weekend to recharge, but that's all I get, so I tried to make the best of it. And by "make the best of it" I mean "buy the last charms I need to complete my Pandora bracelet". Collapse )

Other things that have happened:

  • I finally got myself that new cell phone I was talking about a few months back! And yes, I ended up getting an HTC Legend after all. I LOVE IT. Don't know how I ever lived without it. I've read two books on it so far, I've got two True Blood episodes awaiting viewing, I've become addicted to Mancala, Reversi and Unblock Me (any other game app recs would be most welcome!) and it's the only way I've been able to stay sorta up-to-date on my Twitter feed for the past two weeks.

  • I've been fairly good about keeping up with TV. Well, considering... Collapse )

  • I uploaded a bunch of icons today.

Getting my charm on

My mother just won two Pandora charm bracelets at auction and she's giving me one of them, so I blew off work this afternoon to drool over charms at the Pandora web site.

In other news, new TV is just around the corner, which to me only means More Ways in Which I Will Fall Behind on TV Due to My All-Consuming Kdrama Addiction. I think that's why I've been reluctant to seek out what new shows to pick up, but now that they're actually HERE, I guess it's time to give it some serious thought. So far I've got:

  • Nikita (saw the pilot and am willing to keep watching even thought it didn't blow me away).

  • The Walking Dead (ZOMBIES? I'M SO THERE).

  • Running Wilde (GOB and Felicity - together at last! I mean, haven't we all pretty much been waiting for this day?)

  • No Ordinary Family This show just sounds fun and I could do with a bit of fun.

And sadly, that's pretty much it. What shows should I be watching? Anyone excited about anything else?

I think I'm going to take my newly acquired Being Erica season 2 DVDs and do a marathon this weekend to gear up for the premiere next week. And maybe even do some capping? I feel like I'm going to need both an Erica and an Erica/Kai icon pretty soon.

Kdramas are the answer. Always.

There used to be a time when I had summer shows. Lots of summer shows. Here are the summer shows/summer episodes I haven't even started:

  • Burn Notice

  • The Closer

  • Covert Affairs (thought I'd try it)

  • Eureka (never even saw the season 3 finale, actually)

  • Leverage

  • Lie to Me

  • White Collar

Shows I'm behind on:

  • Drop Dead Diva

  • Top Chef

  • True Blood

I am up to speed on NOTHING. Go team me!

Haven't even been getting all that much Kdrama watching done. I finished my Goong rewatch, which was much better this time around, what without all that sloooooow taaaalking by grandma. And those "I don't care about this" subplots that inexplicably appeared towards the end.

I did finish Soulmate last night! Collapse )

Before I started on Soulmate I did watch the first four (five?) episode of Prosecutor Princess, but I don't know. It's not that I dislike it, but there's nothing that's drawing me in, either.

I'll probably go back to Boys Over Flowers next, though. (Mostly because I've been saving Capital Scandal for after and I REALLY want to see that one.) Epic fail, here I come!

Teevee

Only 1½ weeks left till my three week vacation! I need to distract myself with TV talk or it'll NEVER get here.

In other TV news, even though I enjoyed the Cougar Town pilot, I haven't watched a single episode since. Eastwick was starting to bore me by episode 3, and when the cancellation came, it just became one less thing to catch up with. Still watching and enjoying: The Good Wife, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, White Collar, Castle, Dollhouse, etc. My reality shows are all losing their shine this season. I mean, it's been a steady decline over the past few seasons, but this season there hasn't been a truly excellent reality season in the bunch.

Assorted

So, I was paying my bills the other day, and I started wondering what it's like elsewhere. I can't imagine not having e-billing, giro payments, and online banking in general. Plus, paying all your bills in one go at the end of each month makes me happy. But I get the feeling that the US is still stuck in that same old "check-is-in-the-mail" archaic bill-paying that was the norm when I lived there twenty years ago. Therefore, Collapse )

Speaking of bill-paying, I'm only a few weeks away from being completely free of credit card debt, so of course I'm looking at ways to spend all that extra moolah. And I think I found it! I'm leaning towards this one, though to be honest, it's more because it comes in a pretty light blue color than for the battery life. Does anyone have any recommendations? Words of wisdom?

I think my eReader purchase has already paid for itself, because I'm reading more books than ever. Since the beginning of May alone, I've read 15 books. 15 books! I didn't read 15 books all of last year! (Granted, it's been mostly chick lit and easy fare, but still!)

Except, reading all these actual books instead of fic has made me realize that I've probably averaged about 100 books a year, just in fic. So I'm not reading that much more than usual right now, I'm just reading other things.
