Happy anniversary to meeeeeee

Today is my five year LJ-versary, and I had planned to post the second part of my Aeryn picspam, but then hackers happened and I lost my will to live picspam. Instead I have tried to icon (operative word here is TRIED), watched P&P and read fic. All in all, I have to say I have no regrets.

I got all my galleries up and running and so far so good. *keeps fingers crossed* If you notice anything wrong, please tell me about it.

txvoodoo linked to this site the other day: What if we all voted? It's a chance for non-Americans to vote for the candidate they like in the US presidential race. Obama is winning by a landslide.

I want to watch something, but I can't decide between starting my Farscape rewatch, finishing the last three episodes (EVER) of The Wire, Life on Mars s2, Six Feet Under s1, Wire in the Blood s5 or Spaced s2, so instead I'm just sitting here watching nothing. I think I'll just grab whichever is closest, which happens to be...Six Feet Under.

See Barney? That's how I feel right now.

Well, I now know what I'm doing instead of having that relaxing weekend I've been dreaming about: Restoring my web site, which got HACKED. (Fuck!)

Just as a public service, since I've spent all day dealing with this shit, Collapse )

typicrobots and bellanut, I've checked your galleries and so far I haven't seen any signs of them being hacked (hacked galleries have a row of black characters at the top and bottom. Also, my script blocker pops up), but you might want to take the preventative measures I listed under the cut. Also, typicrobots, the original FNL gallery has been compromised, so I'm just going to delete it entirely (I only say this because I noticed you hadn't uploaded the caps for episode 2 yet, so you might want to do that).

Right now, the galleries that are affected are offline or the directories renamed (another side-effect seems to be that I can't log into some of them to take them offline). So far, I've only restored some of the smaller galleries, like Eureka, The Black Donnellys and [spooks] (ETA: Also: Bones, .avi, movies, Dexter, Rome, TV, British Comedies, US Comedies, Buffy, Doctor Who, The West Wing) but I hope to get vm-caps and the movie gallery up and running tonight. DONE!

Wow, this sure is FUN. /sarcasm

ITEM THE FIRST: Strike almost certainly over (unless the members vote against the recommended action, which I find unlikely); showrunners returning to work on Monday.

ITEM THE SECOND: I basically just copied my cap posts from LJ and made a page on my site instead, listing all the caps. Probably a smarter alternative, primitive though it is.

ITEM THE THIRD: For those who use my galleries (or anyone with a fascination for clicking things), Collapse )

ITEM THE FOURTH: I meant to go to bed two hours ago, so here I go.

what fresh hell is this?

For the past few days, I've been trying to distract myself, and so, I've been on a bit of an organizational kick of the online variety (in other words: my apartment is still a mess. ;-).

I started by redoing my LJ layout when I found a layout I wanted to use at thefulcrum. I finally got around to enabling my mood theme again, I've missed seeing it on my journal page. Especially this mood. *points* I also made an animated text header, with Dorothy Parker quotes. Now, I'm not sure Dorothy Parker actually originated "what fresh hell is this?", but apparently it's how she used to answer her phone, which: HEEEEE!

I then updated my tags, my DVD list and my screencap posts. After shamefacedly realizing that I could only add one album for each post since my last update in November, I finally got off my butt and started capping Veronica Mars season 3. I have a feeling it's going to take me a while, but at least I'm on my way.

As for movie caps, I picked out a few movies I could see myself capping in the near future, but I'm trying to get a sense of what people would like, therefore, A POLL!

Pop quiz, hot shot

Okay, so here's something that's been bugging me for the past, oh, 12 years or so:

At the beginning of Speed, when Harry and Jack are in the elevator shaft, this is roughly how I remember their conversation:

Harry: A terrorist is holding a hostage. You're ten feet away. What do you do?
Jack: Shoot the terrorist.
Harry: Okay, a terrorist is holding a hostage. You're a hundred feet away.
Jack: Shoot the hostage.

But in every single version I've seen since that first one in the theater, they've cut out the first part of the quiz, but they rest is the same, including the emphasis on "a hundred", which just makes the whole line-reading seem off.

Can anyone confirm or deny the existence of the first version so I can put these 12 years of unease to rest?

For some reason the "Team Piz" icons that keep showing up make me laugh. Probably because I don't get who exactly they imagine they're competing against. I keep picturing three people standing out on a rainy football field while everyone else is in the gym, holding a basketball rally.

I'm thinking of deleting all the votes at vm-caps, because I don't think they're representative of what people think. Take this cap for instance. Nine votes, with an average rating of 1.8. And before I gave it five stars yesterday, the average was 1.4. But judging by the number of views, that's not really how people feel about it.

In fact, I tried to see if there was a way of getting rid of the voting altogether, but I couldn't find anything. Does anyone know of a way?

I watched the first five episodes of The O.C. this weekend and you guys were right, it is fun again! I wouldn't say it's good, but then again I never thought so. I guess my one big problem with it is that I'm not really a Ryan fan (though Taylor seems to bring out his best qualities). It's not that I dislike him, it's just that I find him so incredibly dull.

Did anyone who wanted one not get a comment from me in my last post? Wow, that was convoluted, but hopefully you know what I mean.

I've tried making an icon out of this scene since...well, since it aired. Now I'm afraid to go look at it on one of my two other monitors because about half of my icons are scrapped because they look like crap on one of my three monitors, and I'm thinking this one will probably be a dud too.

I also uploaded frame-by-frame DVD caps of that scene here. Because I am insane. And I (like to pretend I) have no shame.

I finally figured out a way for me to get through Prison Break: skip anything that has T-Bag, skip most of the things that have to do with any of the convicts who are not related by blood, space out during most of the scenes with the brothers, ignore Michael's Mary Sue-ish tendencies and watch in fascination any time Sara is on-screen.

I've been watching Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares this weekend, because nothing is more entertaining than Gordon Ramsay on a rampage. (Though why does he insist on changing into his work clothes on camera? Trust me, I do NOT want to see his flab.)

Mondays are a good downloading day.

P.S. Is anyone else having issues with LJ? I keep getting errors.

Ding Dong!

I've been keeping myself busy this week, what with the Emmys, capping and uploading mishaps.

I capped Blast from the Past and Rat Saw God, but they took forever to upload. They're finally where they should be, though. Woohoo, I've capped more than half the episodes! Too bad most of the ones that are left are making me seriously reconsider this whole capping business.

I also finished capping the first disc of The Office season 2 - including the 40 minutes of deleted scenes. They're here.

And speaking of deleted scenes, I noticed something as I was capping that I missed when I watched. Collapse )

I installed Greasemonkey and this script that tracks new comments for you. I actually think it's even better than the tracking feature LJ implemented because I like to monitor posts I find interesting, but the comment notification thing confuses me. I can never keep track of which thread is which, so I don't actually read the comment e-mail, I prefer going to the journal in question to read.

Maybe that could be a compromise for those who don't like this new feature: just send out a notification that there's a new comment, but don't send the actual content? That's all I want anyway.

Go LiveJournal, it's your birthday!

Wow, LJ finally added features that are actually, you know, useful. You can now track user updates, posts (I'm assuming this means all comments on posts) and individual threads using the tack on the info page, at the top of the post or in the comment header. You can also get messages for various things, like when you're friended by someone (though I track this through Semagic, which also notifies you in case of defriendings) and when you're invited to a community (I immediately checked this one). You can manage your settings here.

Go LiveJournal, you don't suck for once! When's the last time that happened? ;-)

I'm almost done with the Emmys, tomorrow will be mostly fact-checking and cleaning up the translation. I really wanted to finish the translation tonight, but I'm so tired, I don't think it will be possible. I woke up at 5.30 for no reason what so ever and didn't fall asleep again until after 7, so I've been sluggish all day.

I did cap the deleted scenes on disc 5 this morning, so I might convert those and upload them before I go to bed, we'll see.

Tears of laughter. And also, pain.

I have to say, I don't think you've truly lived until you've heard Jason Bateman tell David Cross:

"I can't see your nips. Get it up higher, bitch."

And then follow that up with a comment to someone off camera:

"And can we get them harder? Can we have the fluffer in?"

Not to mention hearing Michael tell George-Michael:

"How about a hand job? Would that relax you?"

Season 3 has the Best. Gag Reel. Ever!

Of course, wiping away the tears of laughter with hands you haven't washed yet after slicing onions? Leads to pain. I KNOW THIS NOW.

I don't get this new blue icon craze that's going around. I just don't find it pretty.

But then again, I tend to use a lot of purple, so maybe I shouldn't be one to talk.

I finally started capping my VM DVDs, beginning with the last two episodes since the disc was already in the DVD drive. I may have gone a bit overboard with the finale. But it's just so pretty! And Steph everyone needs picspam material.

Now I'm off to cap the first disc. And then I might jump around a bit, depending on the level of pain. *g*
