Meme on a Saturday afternoon

Stolen from cal_turner:

List all of the television shows you have on DVD, no matter how obscure or embarrassing. Even if you only own one season, list it. Let's see who has what!

#1-9
21 Jump Street (seasons 1-3)
30 Rock (season 1)
4400, The (season 1)

Also, I just finished Being Human, and I started capping as I watched with the second episode, so here are those caps if anyone's interested.

I upgraded to Firefox 3.6 the other day, and I love the personas thing. Right now I'm using the Windows 7 one because I love the colors, but I'll probably switch it before too long to something else.

sick, sick, sick

Most of you seem to be only too happy that 2007 is but a memory, but I actually had a pretty good year. However, if the first two days of 2008 are any indication, this year will not be so good.

It started at four am on New Year's Eve, as I in vain tried to sleep while my neighbors cranked their karaoke machine up to the highest setting. Now, I like to think I'm a pretty tolerant neighbor, and had it just been music I wouldn't have minded, but being tortured with drunken and inept singers at four am is just not fun.

Then on New Year's Day I wake up with a cold. This cold stayed with me throughout all of yesterday and today, today with the added bonus of a pounding headache!

2008 can start getting better any minute now. *taps foot impatiently*

My one and only resolution this year is to read more. I'm going to try to read 50 books, but that's not the resolution - reading is. Last year my resolution wasn't to watch 100 movies, it was learning to like movies again (which I think I did).

I've seen people posting their books/movies/tv show lists public, but I've privated mine, and I'll make it public at the end of the year, just like last year. Unless people are wildly curious about what I'm up to?

The whole "watch 500 episodes" thing is kind of laughable to me, though, because I watched 83 full seasons of shows, and if I estimated an average of 18 episodes per season, that's still almost 1500 episodes in one year. In other words, I won't be counting episodes. I'm not sure the entry wouldn't max out on characters before the six-month mark.

I spent part of New Year's Eve putting my DVDs - which had been scattered all over my apartment - in order (to get a fresh start for the new year). Then I took pictures, because I'm thinking if I ever have to put in an insurance claim for all these DVDs, no one's going to believe me if I don't have proof.

It was a good day

I haven't posted much lately because I've been a bit bad-moody and I tend to overreact and say things that are best left unsaid. But today was great. Allow me to elaborate:

  1. Calling all heroes: Best of The Colbert Report! I know what I'm getting myself for Christmas...

  2. LiveJournal is giving three days free time to everyone with a paid account (because of the outtage last week). Go here to claim it. I think you had to have had a paid account at the time of the outtage, though. Offer only valid through August 6, so better do it now.

  3. Bryan Fuller talks about how the role of Chuck was written with Caroline Dhavernas in mind. Aaron and Jaye are the closest I've ever gotten to getting bitten by the incest bug, just because I love them so much every time they're on screen together, so to see them together on another show would have made my year. Unfortunately, it was not to be. (NUTS!)

  4. Went to the movies and saw Collapse )

Since I last posted I've capped Shaun of the Dead and the X-Files series finale.

A List in Eight Parts

I can't seem to post often enough not to make huge posts, so I thought a numbered list would help.

  1. For those who are interested, I recently saw that LiveJournal would be offering permanent accounts sometime soon. Me, I'm paid up for three more years, so I'm going to pass.

  2. My whole movie revival thing has extended to capping, it seems. This Easter I've capped two more (Mean Girls and Terminator 2: Judgment Day).

  3. I think I'm all set on the movie front for a few more months because I also bought 15 movies. I don't even know how that happened, to tell you the truth. But I did update my DVD post.

  4. Speaking of buying DVDs, it seems My So-Called Life is finally being released in region 2. Now all I need is for them to release Freaks & Geeks.

*throws confetti*

vm-caps.com reached over a million views! *throws confetti again*

I keep composing these posts in my head, but then I never get around to typing them up and I forget them and... Eh.

Let's see, a few things I've been thinking about this week:

I preordered season 7 of The West Wing this week. Yay, kissing DVD caps!

I also got my Dawson's Creek box set (the box it came in was three times larger than the DVD set. Hee!) and The Office (US) season 1. And Doctor Who season 2 volume 1, but I already capped those.

The aborted sailing trip may end up happening after all. Not the "going to the Caribbean" part, but I might take a few weeks off in June and go to England and sail all the way back to Stockholm.

It's funny, when I was a kid I didn't much care for sailing. It was actually pretty dull. But these days I just love it. I think it's because of the stress release. There's simply no way for you to get stressed out by work because there's nothing you can do (HA, that's totally not true, because the boat has a satellite phone, e-mail, internet access, computers - the whole shebang. But it feels like you're cut off from the world, and that's the important part). Very much looking forward to it, and this time it won't interfere with my TV addiction. Well, apart from Doctor Who, but I'm not that addicted. Yet.

...

Was TAR preempted or something last night? It hasn't shown up and it's not usually this late.

Not that I know why I'm complaining, I don't have time to watch it until much later anyway. I don't even have time to watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, which are already sitting on my harddrive.

Last night I felt the urge to watch a period piece and since I recently capped Sense and Sensibility I turned to Pride & Prejudice - the BBC version. See, that's exactly what you need when you're buried in work: a ten hour mini series to take the edge off. Needless to say, I have not finished it yet.

It did, however, inspire me to order North & South (I hear good things) and the new P&P. Also, I got DLM s2, Scrubs s3, Seinfeld s4 and a few other movies, including Home for the Holidays! I'm so glad I remembered to look for it, because I can't find a region 2 release, but I was ordering DLM from an import site anyway, and it was pretty cheap.

I just need to finish translating this one thing, but I'm feeling lethargic this week, so this extra hectic work schedule I've got going right now is not agreeing with me. But it's gotta be done today, so here I go.

No, really, here I go.

Okay, now.

The internets and me

I've been feeling out of step lately. I'm not sure what it it, but something is off.

Maybe it's the fact that I've done almost a month's worth of work in the past week and a half. And I thought I'd planned everything so well and I was going to take the next three days off. Except not so much, because one of the shows I thought was a weekly show turns out to be a daily show and now I have to work tomorrow. Darn it all to heck!

However, all is not lost, because lots of work means a bigger paycheck, so I've been buying DVDs left and right. The other day I bought Scrubs season 2, Gosford Park and Sin City (both movies were very cheap). I've bought at least nine other movies this month (Arlington Road, Bound, Ever After, The Truth About Cats & Dogs, Reality Bites, City of Angels, Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken, Some Kind of Wonderful and Wild at Heart) and now, due to a certain expense that suddenly decreased dramatically, I'm seriously considering ordering Good Night and Good Luck.

Impulse control and me do not mix.

When I ordered Scrubs and the rest of that stuff I saw that the first 13 episodes of Prison Break are being released on DVD here in June. I found that very weird, but understandable, since Peter Stormare is Swedish. I wonder what this means for his character... Dum-dum-dum! He wasn't in very good shape when last we saw him.

I'm still hoping that these new loyalty pics will be retroactive, because otherwise, what's the point?

Woohooo! New VM tonight tomorrow morning! I hope I can get up early like I always do. It's been so long I don't know if I can even do it.

pros and amateurs

Things that make me a happy camper today:

  • Life Goes On season 1 is coming out on DVD! And only 40 bucks, too. That's cheap.

  • Veronica/Logan/Weevil snark from devilpiglet.

  • My wheat pillow thingy. What the hell happened to my cozy heated apartment? The one people complained felt like a sauna? Don't know, but the wheat pillow makes up for it.

  • The easy-as-pie move of the Wonderfalls gallery. I'm getting tired of all that renaming/converting/reuploading. *goes back to renaming/converting/reuploading*

  • The VM discussion in my last post. Feels good to actually feel in tune with the show and the character again. Now just wait until Wednesday Thursday when I'm thrown another curve ball.
