A couple of years ago, on the first day of winter, we had people in Stockholm who were stuck in traffic for seven hours (black ice was the culprit if I remember correctly). I thought that was bad, but this NINE DAY traffic jam has to take the cake. Holy crap!

The only shows I'm keeping up to date with are reality shows. I may get spoiled for True Blood, Eureka, Mad Men, et al whenever I venture outside my flist (and sometimes even when I stick close to home - mostly through no one's fault but my own), but knowing one thing about an episode won't completely render it pointless the way knowing who gets booted off does for a reality show.

TV all over the place!

After a month of nothing much to watch I suddenly feel inundated with TV this week.

  • First I started working again, which means TV eight hours a day.

  • Then the Emmy nominations came out (I'm pleased Jenna was nominated, but the Emmys have become such a joke that it doesn't really mean anything in the long run).

  • Jon and Stephen are back! And I couldn't be happier about it.

  • And SCREENER season is finally underway (yay!).

  • Finally, Fox put up the last two episodes of Collapse )

In other news, LJ has finally clarified their policy that precipitated Strikethrough '07, making it an officially bannable offense to post explicit smut involving underage characters (ETA: Apparently there may be spoilers for Deathly Hallows in the comments? The post is safe, though). In other words, if you've got NC-17 rated fics featuring early season Buffy/Spike, V/L in or before season 2 (Logan is still 17 well into that season and I'm not sure what they'd consider underage since some states in the US have a legal age of 18 [I'm almost positive, anyway]), pretty much anything and everything HP related (do you think this announcement was timed very very carefully? Because I do.), including drawings/manips of anything that appears to be underage characters in sexually explicit situations (they don't even have to be underage, only appear to be so), underage Wincest, etc, etc, etc, I'd lock it down now, at least as a precaution. Also, might want to take a look at those icons. I'm not worried that kissing will be considered smut, but I've seen some pretty graphic HP stuff.

Way to go, LJ, driving fandom away, one fan at a time...

What else is a friends list for if not to help you do your job?

I'm having just a bitch of a time trying to figure out what the Late Night announcer says in this clip (sendspace link, 4MB).

Honestly, I've been trying to listen to it all weekend and I can't for the life of me figure out what he's saying and I'm at my wit's end. I even learned how to clip a video file just to be able to upload the 14 second segment. Can anyone help? Being from San Francisco may (or may not) be a plus. And it may not even be hard to hear, but I just can't figure it out.

I haven't posted about the latest VM episode because I'm spoiled and I don't really feel comfortable posting when I know how easy it is to let your feelings on spoilers influence your reactions. I may post something later, though, we'll see. I did manage to cap the episode on Saturday. I don't expect the caps to be this late every week, I just had a really busy work week last week.

The Internet is for Porn

So, Signe's Porn Battle is in full swing once again. This time there's also a soundtrack, so go contribute your favorite sexy music. My contributions:

Portishead - Music to Fuck to
Avenue Q - The Internet is for Porn
Pulp - This is Hardcore

I'm actually amazed that I managed to find songs that were so fitting just by looking for This is Hardcore. I have no clue why The Internet is for Porn was in the P folder.

typicrobots was talking earlier about making do without the extra user pics and I've contemplated the same thing myself, but I find it extremely hard to pare my user pics down to half. However, I thought about which six I would keep if I returned to Basic status (which won't happen until 2010 at the earliest, but still!) Collapse )

So, which would be your six? Enquiring minds want to know.

And since The Black Donnellys has been on my mind a lot lately, I'm really hoping that someone rents the Heroes half-season from Netflix and caps the pilot episode that's available on it. I'm not holding my breath, but that would be awesome. I'd also really like to know if they have changed the music (I heard rumors they were going to) and if it still works as well as this song *points to Current Music*.

Yesterday I drove over to my friend's place and got my The Office season 2 DVDs back and so far I've capped five more episodes. I'm still uploading The Injury, and I think I'll try to cap The Secret before I call it a day.

I have such a strong urge to picspam Pam smiling, but I'm a bit picspammed out. It can go on the list of picspams I'm thinking of doing. It's ridiculously long and I'm guessing only about 5% of the picspams will ever get made.

I'm about this close to being Internet obnoxiousness personified by starting to comment on every entry that uses the fake cut wrong. If you don't know what a cut is? You might not want to attempt a fake cut.

And FYI, a fake cut does not equal a link.

Well, it took forever, but The Office season 2 DVDs are finally shipping today. No chance of getting them this week, I suppose (unless I'm reeeeeeally lucky and they ship from Denmark), but next week is all that I expected anyway. 17 minute gag reel, here I come! Or perhaps that should be "here you come"?

This week I've downloaded so much I fear that my external harddrive will soon run out of space. And just to put that into context: I had 130 GB free this weekend. The tally so far:

Everwood season 1
Everwood season 2
Everwood season 3
Everwood season 4
Popular season 2
Project Runway 3x08 (it just showed up!)
Justice 1x01
Prison Break 2x02

Not to mention the music! And the DVD caps!

And now I'm off to watch Project Runway.

West Wing

If you want to keep your sanity, do not download this West Wing torrent. Holy crap, it's out of sync! The sound comes in about a second or two before the picture and it's seriously like watching an episode while being spoiled continuously. Of course, now that I've seen it I feel like it would be a waste of time to get a cleaner copy since I'm getting the DVDs soon.

Not really happy with the latest Doctor Who, but I've talked about it at length elsewhere and am pretty much all talked out.

In other news... Yeah, I got no other news. I'm trying to clear away some work today so that I can have Wednesday free and clear. Which means I'm off to continue translating my second Judging Amy episode of the day. Unfortunately not the JfDoh one.

Happy May 1st, all you non-working workers all over the world (so, everyone not in the US)!

You know, I'm a bit wary about watching last night's TWW. That does not mean I don't want to see it at all. Gah! Could the torrent just show up already?!

In other news, I'm starting to take down my caps from Photobucket. So far I've only done some movies and a couple of TV shows, but since I'm not renewing my premium account I have to delete stuff if I want to control what'll be left up after it reverts to free status. I'd prefer not having to reupload icons and re-code icon posts. In fact, I probably wouldn't, because I'm lazy like that.

Yesterday I watched The White House Correspondents Dinner. Right now I'm in the process of obtaining last night's 60 Minutes, and it's all because Stephen Colbert owns my soul. You know you're too far gone already when you find his little, and not-so-little, mistakes endearing instead of a bit embarrassing (like I did at first).

Remember a couple months ago I posted about vm-caps reaching half a million views? Well, it's rapidly closing in on a million, even as we speak. Meep! That was fast.

awmp is hosting a Spuffy ficathon snarkfest over in her journal. If you're a fic writer in the Spuffy way and enjoy snark you should totally check it out.

And that's the word. =)
