And then I woke up to this gem of a post, and I just lost it. I'm so pissed off by the drivel spouted there that I'm just going to take myself out of there before I lose it (the post itself is just vague references to what's going on, the really offensive stuff were the comments made in this post, and then the comments on the post proper just went from bad to worse, which I admit I wasn't exactly helping with since I should have just left when I realized that some people just don't get it).
Needless to say, I did not let the door hit me in the ass on my way out of there.
How can anyone think that it's okay to basically say that people only have themselves to blame if they don't speak up? That they are the ones at fault for someone coercing them into witnessing sexual acts that they don't want to witness, for someone raping them, for being scared that saying the wrong thing actually WILL lead to the sexual violence they're trying to avoid? Don't you know you should always speak up, even when it's not necessarily in your best interest, because how else is anyone supposed to know you don't want to be raped? Because obviously, you should have just said so and then hey presto, no rape! /sarcasm
