I also tried capping, which doesn't actually affect my wrist, because I only use my left hand when I cap. Only, School Reunion was being a right bitch and crashing Power DVD left and right. Three days it took me to get that episode capped! But now the deed is finally done (well, except for the part where the files aren't all uploaded yet. It'll be done soonish). And of course this means I already capped Tooth and Claw. Oh, and I seem to have no restraint when it comes to Ten, so there are 700+ caps for every episode so far this season.
Now I only have The Girl in the Fireplace left. Joy! /sarcasm
I capped a couple of DLM episodes too.
In my adventures away from the eeeevil computer I also watched a boatload of TV. Um, mostly on the computer.
I was whelmed. It had some points of interest, but the biggest drawback from me was Greta, who's just so clichéd I wondered at times if it was a joke. Look, she's damaged, smart, good of heart, beautiful! She has a secret past, yet bravely marches on! She's carefree and sexy, but she won't allow anyone to become close to her!
I think on the basis of that character alone I'm going to give the show a pass.
Kinda interested in this one, actually, though I think it'll be cancelled in the first season. I'll probably watch it in the meantime, at least during the summer. Or maybe it's not even going to air past this summer? I'm so far out of the loop on TV scheduling it's not even funny.
The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency
I think I like Janice more in theory than in practice. Her personality is just too grating, too in-your-face, too much. It's too bad, because there's almost nothing on TV and a fun new reality show would have filled the hole nicely until Project Runway's return.
I absolutely loved these past two episodes and I'm not sure if it's because of the stepping back thing or if I'm actually seeing what I think I'm seeing, which is a return to the storyline that I felt cheated out of with TGitF.
Look, I know I'm one of those stick-in-the-mud newbies who doesn't really get the history behind Who. I just don't care so much, because I'm not in the fandom and I'm not really interested in anything besides what I was brought in on: The Doctor/Rose relationship.
I'm under absolutely no illusions that the Doctor and Rose will live happily ever after, and I never expected their relationship to go past what we saw in The Parting of the Ways. My problem with TGitF was always that I felt cheated out of the Doctor's reaction to Rose's inevitable departure (however that may come about). That episode seemed to tell me that when Rose left, the Doctor would just turn around and grab the first person he saw, not sparing her another thought. In fact, that's pretty much what it did tell me.
But now I feel like we're returning to a show where emotional fallout will occur, and so I'm being sucked back in. I guess we'll see if there is further disillusionment ahead.
I still don't think I'm going to be all that interested in the show after Rose leaves, apart from seeing the impact it has on the Doctor.
I also polished off two DVD sets I've been working on: Law & Order: SVU season 1 (not bad for a procedural, and if I find other seasons for £15 I just might buy them) and Scrubs season 3 (which I'd already seen, but not since I got the DVDs).
I also started rewatching Firefly for the umpteenth time. Only got through Serenity and The Train Job so far. Serenity is such a far superior pilot it's not even funny, and the FOX execs are monkeys on crack! Though I must say that Whedon and Minear did a pretty good job with TTJ, considering what they had to deal with. All that need for exposition just makes it an inferior episode, in my opinion, and places it at the bottom of my list of favorite Firefly episodes. Out of Gas being number 1. I suspect that it wins out over the other simply because it's so very pretty and I'm so very shallow.
Funny how hate memes can make you rediscover your love for long lost OTPs. I was looking over the BtVS hate meme (I'm apparently a masochist. Ah, the things you learn about yourself online) and it was the same old "Spuffy sucks" and "Spike should have burned in hell" and "I can't believe Angel+Buffy4evah!!!!111!! didn't get their closure" and "season 6 blew, but season 7 was even worse" stuff. No surprise there, but my reaction to it was that these people must have watched a completely different show than I did. And then I felt slightly sorry for them for not having watched my show. Heh!
I think I made more Buffy icons these past few days than I have in the past few months. So, not really a GIP, but an IP at least.
