Like I said, I spoiled myself for the finale, so I knew about the jump ahead and about Baltar winning and, well, everything that happened, except for the election fraud, I think. Don't remember that one.
And I can see the motivation behind it, but quite frankly, I don't believe in doing something underhanded for the general good. Because who's to say that your morals and opinions are infallible? If she had wanted to ruin Baltar's chances she could have spread rumors or right-out accused him of consorting with cylons, and probably won the election that way. Fairly.
As for the jump ahead, I like it in theory, just like I loved that twist at the end of Alias season 2. However, there are two things that concern me: First of all, if they cop out of it like they did on Alias I will be forced to strangle someone, and secondly, I'm afraid this will damage characterization even more. Of the humans, that is, because as we all know, the cylons are light years ahead of them in that regard.
Like Lee and Dee. I hate the relationship. Like fiery passion hatred, because it's just one more shovel of dirt on the coffin of Lee's characterization. So badly developed, handled, utlized. Everything that you can do wrong with a TV relationship, they did wrong. So yeah, I think it sucks and it doesn't feel even remotely true. Hell, Kara/Anders has a freakin' Gone with the Wind type love compared to Dee/Lee. If it turns out that they have this deep and abiding love that's now developed off-screen (where else? We're talking about Lee/Dee, after all) I will scream.
I did get the feeling, mostly from Dee, that their relationship had sort of drifted into friendship instead. I think it was the look she gave Lee when Kara called. Kind of a "It's her. You know, the one that always ruins things between us. Thank goodness I don't have to deal with that crap anymore." Yeah, probably wishful thinking.
As for the Lee/Kara estrangement, I definitely got the feeling that something else besides the free show Lee got is what brought them to this place. But that might be because it never even occurred to me that that would be the reason. When he can forgive her for causing his brothers death, it's hard to swallow that he'd cut himself off from her for getting drunk and making out with her boyfriend. While being obnoxious, granted, but we're hardly talking realm of unforgiveable here.
Let's see, what else? Well, the cylons were, as always, the best part. I loved Dean Stockwell's fervent denial only to be caught red-handed and then the aw-shucks routine. And it makes what he said to Chief last week even more funny. I wonder if there really are weekly cylon meetings?
I'm reasonably sure that that was Galactica!Boomer at the end, but the only reason I am is because I'm dead certain that that was Baltar's Six on Doral's other side. Tricia has little ways of differentiating all the Sixes that come across crystal clear on-screen.
I actually started wondering if it was Sharon, because it kind of threw me that she seemed so incredibly distant from these humans she grew up thinking she belonged with, and was totally aligned with the cylons that she seemed to hate. That whole "surrender and you won't be harmed" thing, what the hell was that? I figured she and Baltar!Six had succeeded in their plan to change the cylon objective, so what was with all the gloating and "ha! We got you again" stuff? Weird.
Also, did you notice they had the same line-up going on as in this scene? I love those kinds of details.
I looked at stills of the final collections, and I was sure Santino was going to win. Granted, it was more subdued than his work on the show, but most of the stuff was also gorgeous. I will agree that, like the judges said, they didn't fit right, but I thought the collection was an evolution of what he'd done on the show, not a step back.
I still can't believe that Chloe won, and that I'm ticked off that Chloe won. I think she did excellent work on the show, but when she made her own stuff, from her own heart, it came out fug. Seriously fug. We're talking couch covers and drapery fabrics here. I hated the floral print she used for several dresses and didn't think it went with the rest of the collection at all. The first dress out was horrible. No really, HORRIBLE. I did like a few, like the blue ones and the 13th outfit, the baby doll dress. But I hated the colors in general (gold and fuschia?! And then that forest green with flowers. Reminded me of a horrible brown dress with pink flowers I had when I was 7.) and most of the designs as well.
As for Daniel, I can hardly remember a single outfit. (Oh, wait, there was a white coat in there somewhere, wasn't there?) And I think that's been the problem with Daniel from day one - okay, but nothing special.
I was so hoping for a repeat of season 1, where I was blown away by Jay's final collection. Oh well, bring on season 3!
