Seachd [12 Sep 2007|05:41pm]
Here's a link to a teaser trailer to a film coming out soon. "Seachd, The Inaccessable Pinnacle". Tha e sa Ghàidhlig. Seachd means seven, and is pronounced /Shachk/

"Làn fhìrinn na sgeòil. The truth is in the story. When a young man, Angus, visits his dying Grandfather in hospital he cannot hold back his boyhood quest for the truth - the truth behind the death of his parents and the truth behind his Grandfather's ancient, incredible, fearful stories. Stories from the whole swathe of Gaelic history of poisoned lovers, bloody revenge, water-horses and Spanish gold. His Grandfather hijacks Angus' life for one last time leading him to one of Scotland's most treacherous mountains, The Inaccessible Pinnacle, and an ancient truth he never expected to find."

Airson ur sgrùd... For your perusal... [06 Aug 2007|05:49pm]
Hallo a h-uile duine! Hello everyone!

While I was in Skye, someone pointed out that most people in Scotland can count to ten, say 'Hello', 'Thank you', and 'How are you?' in French and German, but not Gaelic - Scotland's native tongue. You'd probably be surprised how recently it died out in your family. The reason you don't know how to say these things is because its use was aggressively discouraged it its own homeland, this entire country! Except Orkney and Shetland, but they're just weird. So here are some simple Gaelic phrases also written phoenetically. Many people would appreciate you learning them. Do it for Scotland!!!

How are you? Ciamar a tha thu? Kimmurr uh haoo

I am well. Tha mi gu math. Ha me goo mah

Thank you. Tapadh leat. Tahpa lat

Scotland. Alba. Aluhpa (Yes, there is an invisible vowel!)

Welcome. Fàilte. Faalchuh or Faalchey

Cheers! Slàinte mhath! Slaanchuh vah! or Slaanchey vah! (Good health!)

Gaelic. Gàidhlig. Gaahlik. The way it should be pronounced!!

Where words with more than one syllable are underlined marks where the stress is in the word.

Tapadh leibh!

Halloween [05 Oct 2006|01:45pm]

Above is the link for information on the Wicked Halloween Classics concert at the Concert Hall.

Ticket prices vary, and I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for good seats. I think we got the £12.50 tickets for the LOTR symphony, and those seats were pretty good.

I think the best place to go to book is the Concert Hall, and if people wanna come with, or just give me the money we can book them there and choose our seats.

Anonymous meme... Part II [12 Jan 2006|01:33am]
[ mood | I have a sore eye ]

Ok, I'm breaking my friends only livejournal to bring you this one time only entry! Be honoured, and post! I've done this before, but not in a long time. Now go forth and fornicate! But before you do, do this meme.

I want you to post anything
that you want in a comment.

Post a story, a secret, a confession,
a fear, a love - anything.

Be sure to post anonymously and
honestly. Post twice if you'd like.

And then put this in your LJ to see
what your friends have to say.

What are you waiting for? post!

EDIT: And while you're at it, do this one.

Do it!Collapse )

I've been looking at old entries again. Oh how things have changed...
